Hotel Chocolat Velvetiser

Are they worth it?
It’s coming to that time of year (although it’s hot and sunny at the moment!) and was thinking of getting as a joint Xmas gift for DCs.
I spoke to someone at Hotel Chocolat but I still don’t really understand what they do (the velvetiser, not the shop assistant). Are they just a glorified milk frother that take up extra space and cost a lot more?
TIA

I popped into HC today and an assistant was giving out cups of hot chocolate. It was very tasty and there was an offer on so I've taken the plunge.

Do these actually make hot chocolate or does it just froth milk which you then add to hot chocolate

I add the hot chocolate powder or grated chocolate so it makes the hot chocolate!

I do the first cycle then add the chocolate -either grated chocolate or chocolate powder - once it's warm , then a second cycle to mix and whisk it in.
If I add it too early it tends to sit on the the whisk base

I'm surprised how many say luke warm. I find it hot. Yes it doesn't give your mouth a 3rd degree burn if you like that kind of thing but it's designed to be the optimal drinking temperature and is ready to drink straight away

Mine is definitely hot too. I'd actually prefer it a bit less hot!

We’ve got a Dualit milk frother which is identical inside. I see they’ve launched a Cocoatiser which looks like the same thing with a copper outside! But we do use it a lot in winter. I tend to buy chocolate flakes in deals when I see them and you only need a small amount so they last. The current one I think might be from Lakeland.

I also don't find it hot enough so either add boiling water into the machine or do it twice
