To cut the front piece of my hair off? With pics

More noticeable when I’ve used a headband but I have an uneven hairline.

I’m tempted to just cut off that small piece at the front. But realise I’ll have to keep cutting it forever or I’ll have a tuff.

Help please before I grab the scissors.

No don't or you'll get a weird tufty bit growing out . It's hardly noticeable at all anyway, you're probably really self conscious of it but most people won't even notice

Why would I be “really” self conscious of it?

Arlanymor · 19/09/2024 16:03

Well you’ve been given advice and it’s fairly definitive, only you can choose if you want to heed it or just go ahead. Good luck either way.

AttachmentFTW · 19/09/2024 16:08

I think it would look really rubbish. Even if you continually shave it with a razor the skin underneath will be darker because you have dark hair so I think it will just look really obvious and odd.

CatDogGuineaPig · 19/09/2024 16:09

Do not do this - I did it when I was about 8, it was awful

SpottySpotSpots · 19/09/2024 16:14

Don't do it! I did that as a child and it was awful, and I think has never grown back quite right. It will look terrible. You will basically have to shave it every day to stop it being stubbly, and even then, you will potentialy end up with 6 o'clock shadow in the evenings.

MoreCardassianThanKardashian · 19/09/2024 16:17

"Why would I be “really” self conscious of it?"

Because you've started a thread about it.

Don't be silly. @Button28384738 is being kind - not saying it's revolting and something you need to be worried about. Don't make it something it's not.

One of the Kardashians got rid of their widows peak which was much bigger so you have that option. There is nothing care wise you can do to not make it more noticeable in a different way. Leave it be. Change your parting.

Itsaboutvinted · 19/09/2024 16:19

I have one and it's much bigger but doesn't bother me.
Let it be 😊

Sia8899 · 19/09/2024 16:20

I wouldn’t do it. If you shave it you will get a 5 o’clock shadow and if you wax you will need to let it grow long enough to wax again. I’ve seen a couple of people online say they regretted doing it and then grew it out but it would stick up during the growing out phase. If I were you I would just part my hair there and use it as the “widow’s peak”. I’ve never looked at anyone and noticed whether their parting is in the dead centre of their head or not

UmbrellaEllaEllaElla · 19/09/2024 16:21

Nothing wrong with your hairline 💖

catcheeks · 19/09/2024 16:22

If a fringe suits you, go for that? I have a fringe now so I don’t have to worry about to. But as I mentioned I used to pluck them out.

Glimber · 19/09/2024 16:24

Don't do it! Unless you really rock the hair clip look. If you ever decided to regrow it, the tufty stage would last years. Sooo much longer than I expected IME.

Tagyoureit · 19/09/2024 16:25

Leave it

SecondFavouriteDinosaur · 19/09/2024 16:28

madamura · 19/09/2024 16:02

Firstly that’s true of many things of many people. We’re the ones looking in the mirror so yes we do tend to notice things others would not.

I don’t do things to my appearance for anyone but me. I don’t care if others notice it or not. I notice it and it bugs me.

Do what you want then! But not sure why you asked for advice.

Well, you're apparently self conscious enough to post on here about it..... 🤔

FWIW my take is cutting/shaving whatever would be a hideous mistake, as it stands it's literally something only you can see.

MereDintofPandiculation · 19/09/2024 16:41

Even if you cut it and shave it every day, you'll end up with a little dark triangle of skin, which will look worse.

Try moving your parting to the side.

Because I don’t need comments of no one even notices because if I do or don’t cut it then I’m doing it because I want to - what does it matter if everyone in the world notices or no one does? I

Definitely not. It will fight back stronger and go spiky even with regular trims

Self conscious or it just bugs me?

And there’s a difference between between self conscious and really self conscious.

oakleaffy · 19/09/2024 16:44

Lots of people have widow's peaks It's just an idiosyncratic thing, like whorls in hair.

Cutting it will mean that it will likely stick up like a paintbrush in a few week's time.

SurrenderBrenda · 19/09/2024 16:45

Go for it. it'll need a daily run over with a cut throat razor but will only take seconds.

You’re the one who asked if you should cut it! Why are you offended at the words ‘really self conscious’?

You should probably have outlined exactly what we were allowed to reply with in your OP then 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Just4thisthreadtoday · 19/09/2024 16:48

There are a lot of weird posts today by snappy posters, ask question then get snappy with people replying.

so weird

anyway, it's a few strands of hair, just swipe it to the side with the rest 🤷🏻‍♀️

BaronessBomburst · 19/09/2024 16:50

Mediaeval women used to pluck their hairline as a high forehead was considered a mark of beauty.
If you really want to get rid of it, plucking would be better than shaving. Or get it professionally removed by electrolysis.
It's fine though!

GinBlossom94 · 19/09/2024 16:52

Either shave it or don't, you say it's not about that nobody else notices, but I guarantee people will notice a shaved bit, an old friend of mine used to do, it looked horrendous. But you do you, I don't know why you posted with the way you're replying to people
