Out of curiosity really. Do you stick to the same colour way, or do you mix and match?

I bought the largest pot in volcanic orange with some gift vouchers, it was like £280. Not sure why, I rarely use it, it’s so heavy.

Then I bought the largest lasagne dish (in volcanic orange again) from TK Maxx for £12.

And then I bought the butter dish in a very light yellow for £10 from TK Maxx.

I have been contemplating buying a smaller pot, but they’re like £200 new, and I’m not sure I’d use it.

I have a small one (I think it’s 18cm). If making a stew or soup it equates to around three servings. It gets lots of use. Stews, casseroles and soups as well as curries and pilaf.

Please end this "colour way" nonsense. The term is "colour" or "colours".
Mine are all orange.

Stirmish · 16/09/2024 08:51

My DM gave me my large meringue shallow casserole dish over 20 years ago, last century in fact, because she found it too heavy

I'm pretty sure she gave me the orange oval oven dish too because I can't remember buying it

Everything else I've bought myself since

Thanks, I might keep a look out in TK Maxx 😊

LaPalmaLlama · 16/09/2024 08:53

I've got two orange casseroles, an orange frying pan and a sort of turquoisy smaller casserole. Also got some metal pans which are just stainless steel. Tbh it doesn't really matter what colour they are as they all live in the pan drawers so not seen.

Tk maxx is brilliant for le creuset

Do they get the cast iron ones? I’ve only ever seen le creuset stoneware in tk maxx.

You’re right, I’ haven’t seen the cast iron ones in TK Maxx. Here’s hoping!

It’s Volcanic orange actually. 😉

Jeezitneverends · 16/09/2024 09:00

I have a bottle green oval pot/casserole which I’ve had for about 30 years-use it pretty much weekly in the winter, and a fair amount of the cream coloured stoneware which I’ve bought in TK Maxx…my mum had a fair few of the orange pots which my sister now has

What is ‘colour way’? I assumed it was an autocorrect failure. I’ve never heard of it!

SanMarzano · 16/09/2024 09:12

Mix and match! I have the square grill thing in volcanic, 24cm round casserole in deep teal and 28cm one in Rhône which I impulse bought after seeing how beautiful the colour was in John Lewis. Thinking about getting one of the shallow casseroles, maybe in yellow.

Does anyone have the ramekins and if so can you confirm whether they stack? I’m sick of knocking over my Pyrex ones that don’t stack properly.

kitteninabasket · 16/09/2024 09:15

square grill thing

Ooh I forgot, I have a red oval le crueset grill thing. It doesn’t get much use, just occasional grilling of asparagus when in season or peppers.

Thistooshallpass24 · 16/09/2024 09:34

Too many pieces to photograph, I should probably sell some as we have many duplicates (three teapots!) lots have been presents

AhBiscuits · 16/09/2024 09:50

I've got a grey casserole dish, which I use for baking sourdough, blue soup bowls and a blue cafetiere.

Mine are all dark green. A set of pans, lids and a frying pan.
I got rid of the large casserole pot, as I almost never used it.
I have loads of other dark green cast iron stuff, like a pan stand, garlic crusher, egg rack, etc, but don’t know if they are le Crueset.

piccolorhinoceros · 16/09/2024 10:19

I have loads of mugs and I mix and match. I've got Christmas ones too. For cast iron cookware I buy Procook though, it's similar but much more affordable.

isthismylifenow · 16/09/2024 10:30

Mine are all mixed colours. As they are all from the clearance section when the colour / range had been discontinued.

Most of mine are cast iron, but I do have mugs. Also not a set as these too were end of range colours.

To pp who says the mugs chip easily. I am really suprised to read that. I can only assume someone washing them has just been a bit too enthusiastic. I dropped mine once, in sheer panic I tried to save it with my foot. My toe got the brunt of it. Mug was fine. Toe not so much. They are solid mugs.

SabrinaThwaite · 16/09/2024 10:58

Mine are all mixed too, generally bought on sale: red pan set, mid sized grey oval casserole, large blue oval casserole, blue grill pan. I have lots of red and blue stoneware oven dishes that were seconds - most have cracks or chips now, but they’re over 30 years old and still useable.

AFAIK TKMaxx does stoneware Le Creuset but not the cast iron pans.

SonjaBarkerFinch · 16/09/2024 11:01

I’ve go for a mix of colours. But I do lean towards the classic volcanic.

isthismylifenow · 16/09/2024 11:16

Our orange (the original colour) is called Flame.

I see here pp are calling it Volcanic.

I just looked and we don't even get Volcanic.

I wonder why the name difference?

SabrinaThwaite · 16/09/2024 11:36

The orange colour was originally called 'volcanique' in France, and became 'flame' in the US. I've always known it as volcanic in the UK.

When I saw it mentioned I thought pp may have been referring to a deeper colour orange.

I instantly got FOMO thinking something has passed me by 😂

I just Googled and it could stem from the translation as at one point was called Volcanic Flame.

I learned a new LC fact today.

I am in SA. I can feel a deep LC colour investigation oncoming.
