And why do they have to have big bright posters with toys on...GRRRRRR. I don't want to have whinging DCs because I won't take them in there, especially when SIL does against my very clear wishes.
Am I just being really mean about the whole junk food thing?

Have you ever looked at the ingredients list of a Big Mac for example, it's 100% ground minced beef OK a fair bit of salt added as well.

Now if you look at the ingredients of say good quality bacon it probably contains more salt than a Big Mac. Same with cheese which is seen as a healthy food it's very salty.

I'm not saying McDs is great but in context it's not that bad.

It's up to you if you hate the place but i am not bothered in the slightest if someone takes my DC there, we take them every now and then. I also don't mind if they have fruit shoots etc, don't really get why i would as long as it is in moderation.

sweetkitty · 20/04/2008 13:10

At least with McDs you know exactly what you are going to get. I hate when you go somewhere new for lunch and end up paying over the odds for microwaved mush with a sorry excuse for a side salad beside it. I hate restaurants that don't actually have a chef making food just someone reheating stuff.

Ahhh jellybeans the voice of reason I couldn't agree more.
I heard of someone who banned mcds, sweets etc in her house. Everything organic, free range etc. YKWIM. Her now teenage ds has a partime job and spends large part of wages on junk food at least 4 times a week!!!!
Much more important imo to teach kids to have a healthy relasinship with food and everything in moderation. Can't go far wrong.

sweetkitty, totally agree with you here on the proper food cooked by a proper chef vs reheated-by-a-kitchen-worker. How can you tell though when going into a pub/restaurant, what you are going to get? being vegetarian, I have had many an obviously frozen microwaved lasagne/broccoli bake thing, served up as 'real food'in a pub...one was even still frozen in the middle when I began eating it ewwwww.
