Can't sleep without s*x

I wonder if this is actually a thing? But I'm pretty sure I am being lightly manipulated, for lack of a better word.
DH sometimes says he won't be able to sleep if we don't have sex (like, physically being awake, not because "he loves me so much he won't stop thinking of me" kind of thing). If I keep saying no and tell him to sort himself out if he needs it to sleep, he says it's not the same thing...
AIBU to tell him to stop acting like a 15yo?

Don't give into this silly ploy. It will set you up for problems later on as he will push it further. You don't want to end up a decade in feeling like you still have to have sex every week for the sake of the relationship, it's boring and pointless.

Combattingthemoaners · 11/09/2024 10:32

Man pestering wife for sex because he thinks it’s his right as a husband. Another pathetic man baby. I don’t know how you have sex with him at all.

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 11/09/2024 10:37

How did the poor soul cope before you got married / moved in together.
Is he trying to claim he hasn't slept at night since being a teenager unless he had sex

BunnyLake · 11/09/2024 10:40

Tell him to take a sleeping pill. How immature and pathetic, not to mention manipulative.

I’m disappointed this in the wrong thread.

Tell him to go sort himself out and then he will be able to sleep

MeowCatPleaseMeowBack · 11/09/2024 10:51

There's nothing light about this. Bin him.

TwinklyAmberOrca · 11/09/2024 10:57

You need to tell him very clearly that insisting that he can't sleep without sex is a HUGE turn off, verging on cringe-worthy and giving you the ick, and if he keeps insisting, it will result in LESS, sex, not more!

If he genuinely can't sleep without sex with a human then he needs to see a GP as that's just weird.

I think I'll say exactly that, thank you!
I tend to get annoyed and not get that point across!

He’s giving me the ick for sure.

MathiasBroucek · 11/09/2024 11:18

Man here. Ejaculation does send us blokes to sleep quickly but if he genuinely can't sleep without it then he should just take a sleeping tablet (or take matters into his own hands, so to speak...)

I understand that, I've told him he can sort himself out then but he says "it's not the same"... but if it's a physical thing about ejaculation then it IS exactly the same thing!
Otherwise it's NOT a physical thing and I'm not there on his back-and-call to put him to sleep?! I get so annoyed!

Pass him the Kleenex. They often sell 2 boxes together in cellophane, which would work out slightly cheaper.

HTH.

DaisyChain505 · 11/09/2024 11:29

nobody needs sex to live or survive.

your husband is a manipulative pig who sees you as an object to satisfy himself with.

this would be the biggest turn off and deal breaker for me.

WeirdButFuckingBeautiful · 11/09/2024 11:33

I bet you’d sleep lovely without him there giving you the ick

fizzymizzy · 11/09/2024 11:42

I'm concerned that you find it 'annoying' rather than seeing it for the abuse it truly is. You sound quite vulnerable, do you have anyone in real life you can talk to? Otherwise I would suggest looking into contacting some domestic abuse organisations. You really do need to reframe this on your mind before it is too late. He is an abuser and he doesn't care about you a single bit. This is not a relationship of balance. Get out of it.

ACynicalDad · 11/09/2024 11:45

I have had nights I can't sleep we've probably woken each other up and after sex I'm dead to the world. I can agree it may work. But if he's playing that card regularly, that's just grim, hopefully he wants you for you not a sleep aid. Referal to the clinic is the answer. You're not a 1920s housewife that needs to lie back and think of England so he can do what he 'needs' (wants).

FilthyforFirth · 11/09/2024 11:47

Yes, single men literally never sleep, poor lambs...

Fraaahnces · 11/09/2024 11:48

I would laugh in his face and sugges he sort himself out.

Curiossir · 11/09/2024 11:50

Lots of men use sex or masturbation to help them sleep. It absolutely is a thing. If he's in the habit of doing that, then it may cause problems for him. Clearly, he shouldn't try to pressure you though.

Prisonbreak · 11/09/2024 12:00

your man is a predator

Not just men. I definitely sleep better afterwards, and I am a woman. That said, I would never expect my partner to be available every night. I can take care of things myself...

cheshirebloke · 11/09/2024 12:18

Yes, it's a thing, that's how male hormones work (depressing that so many women appear to have no understanding or interest in way men's bodies 'work'). He's entitled to ask for sex, just as you are entitled to refuse. Think carefully about encouraging him to sort himself out in this situation though - do you really want your partner laying in bed next to you wanking himself off while you're trying to sleep? Ultimately, you're just sexually incompatible.

Verv · 11/09/2024 12:20

"Sorry darling, i simply cannot sleep unless you've cleaned the house"

muffledvoice · 11/09/2024 12:23

Genuinely, is he a cocaine user? That drug messes people up and makes people horny and feel like they are on edge until they have sex then just fall asleep after.
