To wish there would be a crackdown on the Deliveroo cyclists riding like maniacs without any consequences

But to be certain there never will be

(As an aside, many of them are completely undocumented in the UK so using them is only marginally safer than hitchhiking imo)

Obviously not a problem limited specifically to Deliveroo, they're just a big example of the sector

Yanbu. They drive on L plates for years, bollocks do they actually know how to drive. I've lost my shit at a couple who drove on the pavements in our street, the police did actually take it seriously but I don't know if they were ever prosecuted.
(I've never had a takeaway so they have nothing to do with me).

It's a huge problem in my town - and people - including me have been hurt. They ride fucking motorbikes on the pavements!!! But there's nothing you or the police can do.
But those who aren't affected are not interested in you or your concerns or whether someone is knocked down - just as long as they can call you a racist and shut down the convo. That makes them feel good.

Those aren’t ebikes, which is pedal assist. They are basically mopeds. So not really cyclists. They shouldn’t be on cycle infrastructure. As a regular cyclist I get really annoyed with these as they are large and heavy and often dangerous illegal conversions with no speed limiters. Regular legal e-bikes have pedals and the motor is there only to help with hills, setting off etc and are limited to 15mph after which the motor cuts out. If caught these illegal bikes can be seized.

I agree, cyclist is not really the right term for the problem that is being described, it is basically using adapted bikes as mopeds.

It is very frustrating to see this issue jumped on by so many commentators as a chance to criticise regular cyclists when they are not actually cycling and should not be on these bikes.

These riders may not be killing people or causing huge numbers of accidents, but people will stop walking od cycling along these routes if they feel unsafe.

It's so frustrating to see this going on in daylight covered in the logos of the delivery companies and nothing being done.

Well then that has caused harm and should be reported, in which case it would appear in stats. There are no stats evidencing the harm because it’s minimal and nowhere near the level of harm cars cause. But people like to get het up about bikes for some reason. You don’t see multiple threads and complaints about all the injuries and deaths caused by cars and how they should be outlawed or whatever. It makes no logical sense but you carry on with your outrage.

Death and serious injury aren't the only harms that can occur. Pedestrians and cyclists should not be feeling unsafe in their local area because they have had a previous near miss from one of these riders.

If people don't want to be out on their local paths or feel anxious about doing so then that in itself is a harm and not really great for society.

”What evidence is there and where is the reporting”.

Is this a joke? Are you actually suggesting everything reported by the media is an accurate reflection of what happens day to day, not to mention there are very few local reporters or news outlets anyway.
