A man told me how I should have reverse parked. I told him to floss and use a stain resistant toothpaste.

I had to use DH truck today - which I rarely drive. I then has a tricky reverse park in a busy town. A man watched the whole thing with his arms cross, chuckling and came over and offered a lot of critique and unsolicited advice.
WIBU to offer him critique and unsolicited advice in return?

Yeah yeah, I know I was rude but fuck me, he was a twat of the highest order.

I may have used the phrase "Is it FREE ADVICE DAY? GREAT?"

If I were you I’d feel very ashamed. He thought he was helping you and you insulted him in a very mean way. How would you feel if someone said that to your father or grandfather?

I’d think my relative (of any type or age) deserved everything they got for being a patronising arsehole who thought they had the right to butt in with their unsolicited opinion.

Bonbon249 · 11/09/2024 17:51

Tilt your head to one side and say 'I'm confused' then when they start to explain again, say 'No, I'm confused why you think I gave a flying fig about your opinion?'. There's rarely any reply to that.

That was neither as clever or funny as you think.
He was a Dick, you could have made your point AND been a bit more classy

It was perfect, don't be such a handmaiden. Men need to learn to stop this shit, and subtlety is lost if fuckwits like this.

This is a truly horrible and depressing thread.

Are people not allowed to interact with other humans now unless there is some kind of written agreement in place?

Had someone walking by while I was parking on my narrow terraced street tell me I had done a good job, and he did not believe I would have been able to park in the space I parked in, much less in one go. Told him 'yeah, I am pretty good at parking' and walked off.

misscockerspaniel · 11/09/2024 19:15

I used to get advice and "help", always from men, on how to park when out and about in a clearly-marked postal van, wearing a postie uniform.

A couple of days ago I was working as a volunteer, doing a 5 minute job picking up rubbish in a car park. Some random man sitting in a car couldn't help himself from explaining how I should do the job. 😏

Why are women terrible at parking?…

Because men are always telling us that this

I——————————I

is eight inches…

It wasn't a genuine interaction, it was a man thinking he knows better than a woman and letting her know what she should be doing something despite the fact that she was already doing the thing perfectly well.

You can bet your bottom dollar he wouldn't have treated a man like that.

Good for you!

And thanks for making this Covid-ridden mum smile today 😊

LouH1981 · 12/09/2024 13:39

As a mobile dog groomer, I drive a long wheel based van which I have to reverse through a gate on to the driveway. A male (65ish) neighbour once told me ‘you drive it very well…you know, for a woman’
Watch out ladies, they’ll be letting us vote soon! 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
