A man told me how I should have reverse parked. I told him to floss and use a stain resistant toothpaste.

I had to use DH truck today - which I rarely drive. I then has a tricky reverse park in a busy town. A man watched the whole thing with his arms cross, chuckling and came over and offered a lot of critique and unsolicited advice.
WIBU to offer him critique and unsolicited advice in return?

Yeah yeah, I know I was rude but fuck me, he was a twat of the highest order.

I may have used the phrase "Is it FREE ADVICE DAY? GREAT?"

No this is perfection, do not doubt yourself

Dying to know what he said back 😂

What does that even mean? Wrong side? What is the right side?

I have a dad and 7 brothers and have spent my life being told off by men, well, that is how I felt today.

7 brother's! I hope you had more than one toilet!

@user47 *crossED. His arms were crossed.

I am riddled with errors - believe me I know! You only picked up one of several in the OP. Get your red pen out and go for it!

Of course he did

nothing, he stropped off - so unsatisfying

Haha, well done. If anything, you were too restrained. That level of twattery deserves the skunk breath, shit for brains level of insults, not just kindly dental advice :)

BoredZelda · 08/09/2024 20:46

Nope, it was just us, but I do feel bad. Does that help?

I'm sure they will clap and cheer here to make up for it.

thoonerismspread · 08/09/2024 20:46

Please tell us exactly how it went! What exactly did you/he say?

7 brother's! I hope you had more than one toilet!

One OUTSIDE until I was 6 then one inside until I was 14, then 2. It was brutal! I have a bladder of steel.

SilenceInside · 08/09/2024 20:47

IMO, as he interrupted you going about your day with unneeded commentary and unwanted interaction, then what you said back was totally reasonable. Sod being polite, and sod feeling bad about it! He should have minded his own business instead of deciding to interfere in your day.

Hoppinggreen · 08/09/2024 20:39

That was neither as clever or funny as you think.
He was a Dick, you could have made your point AND been a bit more classy

I disagree

I think it was clever AND funny

LunaNorth · 08/09/2024 20:48

I was once told off for a man for parking outside my own house. He slowed down his car and berated me through the window.

He picked the wrong day. I followed him home and asked him what his bloody problem was. Twat.

He may not have been stropping. He may have been running to get his floss

You’re a better woman than me OP.

My last comeback in this sort of situation was at least I didn’t come out in my slippers.

MintyNew · 08/09/2024 20:48

You stopped to his level which I think makes you sound worse off op. You went very personal which isn't nice.

RedRobyn2021 · 08/09/2024 20:49

I would have said

"Why don't you mind your own business, I'm not interested in your condescending mansplaining"

Yours was way better

bergamotorange · 08/09/2024 20:44

I can see he was really annoying, but I think what you said in return was out of order as it was about personal appearance.

Seriously?

As women we are judged on our appearance our entire life

Man should brush his bloody teeth dirty bugger

Gettingbysomehow · 08/09/2024 20:44

Haha I got told off once by a pensioner for wearing a camouflage print biker jacket on my motorbike. He said why am I so stupid wearing camo so nobody can see me.
The jacket had reflective patches all over it, my lights were full on and I wasn't riding through a fecking forest.

😂😂😂

tbf he had a pretty bad hair transplant/comb over job going on that I was biting my lip not to take the piss out of. I do regret it but I was already in a bad mood 😂

YANBU

I was reverse parking into a very tight space. A man stopped walking and decided to watchme shaking his head. When I caught his eye he said you won’t get in that space

Well I did and jumped out before he could walk away and said well that’s a great bit of parking isn’t it with the smuggest smile on my face 😄

he wasn’t smiling

When I was new to driving, my first car was an very unwieldy, fuck-off people carrier that had all the finesse of a brick on wheels. Anyway, my first trip out in it and I parked in a bay at the shopping centre that had a bollard in front. I overestimated the length of the bonnet and dinked into the bollard, not hard enough to do any damage but hard enough to make a decent "doompf" sound. Helpful Man™️ walking past stopped and tapped on my window specifically to say "you've hit the bollard, love". Thanks, Captain Obvious.

I did have a genuinely helpful man a few weeks ago then when a White Van Dickhead blocked my swing out of a space so I had to way of getting out without reversing out of my bay, reversing past the length of the van, and out into the main road that I couldn't actually see because of the stupid van. A man walking past clocked what had happened, asked if I needed help getting out and then went out into the road to stop the traffic whilst waving me out. White Van Man returned during this and he gave him an earful too.

@Hoppinggreen what would your response have been?

SantasRubiksCube · 08/09/2024 20:55

Why should the OP have said nothing, or said something 'classier' or just politely agreed etc. she was going about her business when this giant knobhead decided he needed to swoop in to give her some of his magical man knowledge. He deserved to have something said back to him.

DoctorLove · 08/09/2024 20:55

DHOTY Contender.

BrightYellowDaffodil · 08/09/2024 20:59

Do not apologise, OP, and do not feel bad. These sad little men (and it’s ALWAYS men) need to be told to keep their sad little opinions to themselves. Ignore the “be nice” or the “rise above it” brigade. Stoop to their level to make sure they understand when you tell them to go fuck themselves.

They never take put downs from a woman well, and that’s what makes it all the more enjoyable Grin
