To ask if you have medium to long length hair what you do with it to sleep

I'm clearly dim and missing a trick despite having the same hair cut for nearly 40 years. Not far below shoulder length wavy hair. Thanks to young kids, my hair in the day is nearly always in a claw grip clip to get it away from my face. At night I let it down because I obviously can't sleep with a clip, but my god my hair pisses me off. In the summer, unbearable, sticks to me. Last night, tickles me. And I wake up looking like a mess. Don't do hairbands as they leave a kink, or if left loose, fall out. I always shower in the evening, let it dry naturally. I am up and down all night with the kids, and also toss and turn A LOT so anything that requires me to sleep (spooned) gracefully like a movie star is absolutely out of the question. But I'm kind of sick of waking up looking like I haven't washed or brushed it. Also showers in the morning would be impossible. Oh and I have the technical skill with anything hair and make up as a donkey with boxing gloves 😁

Thanks I'm advance!

I have a lot of very thick wavy/frizzy hair which I straighten each day and always wake up with it being enormous 😂 Putting into a bun to sleep gives me ice pick migraines so after seeing vids on SM I bought myself a silk sleep 'bonnet'. Looks like a Buff type headband but is stitched closed at one end. It's brilliant, hair isn't everywhere in the morning. And not too hot either as bought the proper silk one, not the polyester cheaper version.

This is me too!
A scrunchy is much gentler than a hair-band although if you have thick hair the weight doesn't hold as well in a scrunchy. I twist it up in a loose bun at night (& clip fringe & sides) as it drives me nuts when it sticks to my face/neck overnight. Have you tried two twisted loose buns (not the edible kind😇) ie: one on each side of a middle parting so you're not squashing it & should catch all the wispy bits? In the morning I tip my head over and gently 'ruffle' my scalp hair, so it's not stuck to my head, then spray lightly to soften/dampen down (a very -maybe even a hair fragrance - fine mist) any rogue strands!
Someone on TV swore by stroking tin foil down the hair to eliminate frizz, yet to try that! 🤷🏼‍♀️
We're never happy... I'd love to have straight neat hair instead of crazy curly hair, but it's vice versa for girls with straight hair (sigh!) 🤷‍♀️

As for makeup...
defined eyebrows (tinted or microblading) really frame a face, bring out the eyes.

And use the same lipstick for both cheeks (3 dabs & blend well on cheeks each side) AND lips to give a healthy glow!
Try at home on a weekend to give time to adjust as desired...better less than more at first until you get used to it! I'm hoping you have a lippie around at home! x
Hope something helps 🤞

Dribble on it

I put mine in a silk bonnet.

ThinWomansBrain · 16/02/2025 01:42

I don't sleep brilliantly, so sleep bonnets etc aren't comfortable and don't stay on.
Only one side of my hair is long, so buns and pony tails don't really work - so I do nothing.
It's often like a birds nest in the morning, but I just wet it and it goes back into curls.

I do a French plait every night. Have done this since my teens. I have thick wavy hair.

There's my hair twin 😍

Oh can you give more info please. I do wear a buff over plait, doubles as an eye mask 😂

My DD has almost waist length very thick wavy hair. She uses a satin bonnet too - Amazon I reckon will have a good selection.

Long curly hair. Nothing. I just go to bed.

I used to be the same...Didn't appreciate how lucky I was! Age puts paid to that. Night sweats etc. soon changes waking up with a lion's mane to having to sweep it up to keep cool & stop it sticking to your face! Enjoy girlies x 😏
