BOOTS [the shop] sex toys on the shelves now!

It's one thing to see condoms and lube for sale in a pharmacy, I'd expect that.

The attached picture is a bit much though, surely they should be behind the counter or in those plastic tag boxes.

Also that sleeve doesn't look like it would fit much of anything in it. 😬

They've always been with the condoms and lubes, for at least 20 years.

I mean "slide and ride" with a picture of a wanking hand isn't that discreet but yes I suppose it isn't as graphic as it could be

😂

They’ve been on the shelves in Tesco for at least 2 years, and far more obvious ones than that.

It's a bit like Les Mis.

I've never once seen sex toys in a supermarket, and I'm middle aged.

Neither had I until a couple of years ago. Sainsburys were selling vibrators next to the headache tablets and you could get them delivered in a home delivery too.(I looked because i couldn’t believe what I was seeing) I was a lot whattttttt! at the time.

mommatoone · 05/09/2024 14:26

That's me off to Boots then 🏃‍♀️ 🏃‍♂️

LauderSyme · 05/09/2024 14:27

Things like this always remind me of Billy Connolly's sex sketch.

"Have you seen the things that people buy, the things that people are doing to each other? Shocked and stunned, ladies and gentlemen, shocked and stunned...."

8misskitty8 · 05/09/2024 14:28

Calm down it’s not like it’s giant rubber one or nipple clamps they’re selling. It’s the ‘discreet’ durex ones.
They are in the sexual health section of boots so a bit late to be pearl clutching as you chose to go looking down that aisle !

I worked in Asda about 10 years ago and they sold cock rings. People bought them with their weekly food shop.

Haggia · 05/09/2024 14:28

Could be an interesting question form a seven year old… mummy, what’s a butt plug?

I remember my mum telling that as a primary teacher, one of the trickiest questions she had was why do condoms come in different flavours?

AsYouWiiiiiiiiiiiiish · 05/09/2024 14:28

I think its nice to have them easily accessibly vs going into some dark skeevy sex shop.

Also, vibrators enhance the woman's pleasure.

Considering the stigmas surrounding female sexuality, anything we can do to get rid of shame and encourage women to expect pleasurable sex is great imo.

Self pleasure and great foreplay should be two things that we feel comfortable doing/having if we want to.

haha run don't walk!

I'm just waiting for the DM headlines tomorrow on an unfathomable rise in the sales of sex aids in Boots as a result of this thread. OP, how much is your house worth?

I don’t think anyone who didn’t already know what the product was for (eg a child) would get the significance of the hand or the name, though - it’s not like there are anatomical pictures or rude words on the box. If it was a box with a drawing of an open fanny labelled “WET AND WILD COCK PLUNGE SEX SIMULATOR” that would be more of an issue.

Excellent shelf placement there. Who needs medication when you can just... 😂🤦🏾‍♀️.

BobbyBiscuits · 05/09/2024 14:31

I don't really see the issue. I guess little kids grabbing them and asking questions. But why shouldn't stuff like that be accessible.
There might be loads of women, who for whatever reason, wouldn't or couldn't use Lovehoney, ann summers, harmony, whatever the sex toy retail brands are now.
It means they can purchase it discreetly amongst other shopping. Which for some people might make sex aids more accessible.

Yes fair point. I'm just not sure why they needed a wanking hand on the box. Still. It works. It's got our attention.

People who don't like the taste of penis

Whatineed · 05/09/2024 14:36

IDoLikeToBeByTheSea · 05/09/2024 13:28

Been available like that for years- seen them in Boots, Tesco etc. Tesco even had a penis pump the last time I saw.

Those pumps aren't for sale though, they just use them to give a little boost to the cucumbers nearing their shelf end date.

UpUpUpU · 05/09/2024 14:39

What were you doing @offyoujollywelltrot to have seen these is the first place?

I Introduced my partner to sex toys last year and now we have a joint and significant collection. He would definitely pick one off the shelf if he saw one we didn’t have.

VividJadeSquid · 05/09/2024 14:39

I don't agree with adult sex items being on sale where children can see them. Also the normalisation of anal sex for young women and girls is dangerous.

BrimfulofSasha · 05/09/2024 14:40

I remember seeing a post like this years ago. The mother was outraged they were on a shelf for her three year old to see… like her three year old would have any idea what they were.

Ageism. You think that is a recent invention?
