BOOTS [the shop] sex toys on the shelves now!

It's one thing to see condoms and lube for sale in a pharmacy, I'd expect that.

The attached picture is a bit much though, surely they should be behind the counter or in those plastic tag boxes.

Also that sleeve doesn't look like it would fit much of anything in it. 😬

They've been in boots for at least 15yrs, I know because when I was a student I moved out of the way for someone and accidentally knocked a load of cock rings all over the floor 🙈😳

When I was recently in Sainsbury's in the Lewisham area I saw a 'buttplugs for beginners' set, was a little miffed they didn't have any for more advanced users.

Leading to a degree in butt plugs?

carrotcard · 05/09/2024 14:09

Is this a stealth ad?

SleepGoalsJumped · 05/09/2024 14:09

Not a big deal at all.
I bought a mini vibe from off the shelf at Boots about 10-15 years ago (I'm pushing 50 now) and I expect they're always in stock at larger stores. There's nothing graphic about the packaging. It's only shocking/dirty/shameful if you think sex is shocking/dirty/shameful. Anyone too young to know what it is isn't going to know what it is.

Pippifer · 05/09/2024 14:09

You used to get cock rings in the vending machines in toilets 🤣🤣

😂😂 I thought a bit of baby oil was all that was needed, but what do I know 🤷🏾‍♀️😅.

I’m assuming it’s a bit more sensation. I think people used baby oil and a sports sock in the low tech days

If you've not noticed for years, I think you are defeating the point of your own OP in terms of outrage...

Yes! But the marketing department is to be commended as they've grabbed OP's attention

I'm with Op, i just don't see the need.

I don’t see the ‘need’ for plenty of products they sell in Boots, but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t sell them.

It’s just a discreet, functional sex aid. It’s not like it’s a silicon effigy of an elephant’s cock, is it?

I mean "slide and ride" with a picture of a wanking hand isn't that discreet but yes I suppose it isn't as graphic as it could be

They still have those machines in a lot of loos! Can’t say I’ve ever thought “Oh, I’ll just pick up a couple of cock rings while I’m here” when stopping for a wee at a Welcome Break services, but I assume someone must be buying them!

As others have said, this is absolutely nothing new, I was stocking this stuff on the shelves in supermarkets decades ago.

And I think it's a good thing. Sex and masturbation aren't dirty, naughty things that should be hidden away.

Ah next to the chewy toothbrushes?

The plastic tag boxes are still transparent though, so you’d still be able to see them? Or do you just want them to be in a tagged box so it’s more embarrassing for the person trying to buy one- some sort of puritanical punishment?

Dearg · 05/09/2024 13:23

Gosh - not behind the counter and not in plain brown wrapping 😱Where are my pearls 🤷🏻‍♀️

You mean anal beads? You’ll find them on the shelf with all the other sex toys ma’am

Cyclebabble · 05/09/2024 14:15

offyoujollywelltrot · 05/09/2024 13:22

I've never once seen sex toys in a supermarket, and I'm middle aged.

My Tescos has them and has done for a number of years.

TuVuoiFaLamericano · 05/09/2024 14:16

The only thing horrifying about it is the price 😅

LOL! Yes, for those emergencies when you want minty fresh breath AND also a mildly enhanced shag.

DiscoBeat · 05/09/2024 14:17

Why the shame? No need to hide them.

PottedPlantCrazy · 05/09/2024 14:18

Nothing new. Nothing shameful, either..!

DrinkElephants · 05/09/2024 14:18

Over 10 years ago these types of things were in Sainsburys when I worked there… nothing new about this. And nothing I’d get worked up about.

Well, I'm gonna stick around and see what else I learn, cos I also assumed (when people say wanksock) the sock was for catching the end product, not aiding sensation.

Thank you 😊

Ewww.

So you are telling me penis will smell like old socks?

Why is a cock ring OK but not that fleshlight thing? They’re both things men are meant to poke their willy into for fun. I can’t see why one would be more of an issue than the other.
