Aibu for being frustrated with a colleague

So, we had lunch delivered yesterday and it’s a rare treat for us at work to get this. It was sushi and wraps and cakes.

A colleague of mine, who is somewhat greedy I feel. Took one of the boxes that things were delivered in and says to me “I’m going to take some of this home for tea” she took 12 wraps so 6 full ones, 10 sushi and a few cakes.

I ended up telling my team leader but didn’t want to be horrible about it but it was sort of greedy in my opinion to take that much when it was supposed to be for our spread today. I would understand if it was a case of food poverty or something, but the issue is she goes for regular dinners that are pricey and gets regular take outs.

AIBU for being annoyed here.

if the food is left over then it saves waste if no one else wants any extra

I told my team leader in the morning bc she left and was packing the box when everyone has gone home and didn’t realise I was still there.

What a drip feed! completely different scenario if this was at the end of the day rather than before anyone else had had a chance to eat!

If it was stuff that would last another day and had been properly packed away in a fridge and then she took it out, then she is perhaps being slightly unreasonable but not hugely, everyone had had the chance to eat as much as they wanted, and if anyone wanted to take some home themselves or put it away for tomorrow then they had had the chance.

If it had all just been left out, then good on her for taking it, surely nobody would eaten stale sandwiches and sushi that had been left at room temp the next day anyway? If anything she was doing people a favour by cleaning up.

Why didn’t you say something to your colleague at the time? You come across as if you’re telling tales. If your boss asked where all the food went then say but otherwise 🤐

Yabu for writing such a confusing and nonsensical thread. First she turned to you and said this, then you say she didn't realise you were there.

If everyone had gone then it was leftovers for the bin. No idea what your issue is with that.

Do you regularly eat sushi and wraps that were left out overnight?

At least your supervisor now has measure of you, and how you are petty enough to tell tales and talk behind others backs.

IndigoLaFaye · 08/09/2024 12:43

Unless people were left without enough food to eat this wouldn’t even register for me.

Eskimalita · 09/09/2024 17:34

You’ve not been clear about WHEN she took it

StormingNorman · 09/09/2024 17:40

Wow! I’m cringing for her.

She has, in a follow up. End of the day when she and OP were the last two there!

My bad, read the date wrong.

I love a zombie thread, I like nothing more than finding out what happened months later. Did she leave him? Did he change his ways? Did they move abroad? Did she finally tell MIL to f off?
