To be flabbergasted, amazed, and perplexed by my friends bean choice

I was recently at a friend’s house and noticed they only had supermarket own brand beans. I was flabbergasted and astonished. It has rocked me to the core.

My friend isn’t short of money. She earns six figures, has a 900k house (mortgaged), has a BMW, and holidays in the Maldives annually.

I was there for lunch. I was expecting bruschetta with cherry tomatoes from the artisan farmer’s market. When she offered me beans on toast, I just couldn’t take it any longer and had to leave. I told her it was because I thought I’d left the hot tub on, but I think she knew it was the beans.

It’s been on my mind ever since, although I’ve tried to forget it. I thought about leaving a four pack of Heinz on her doorstep but not sure she’d take them with the kindess they were intended.

Should I just go no contact or low contact?

You can eat a whole rice cake? I eat them by one rice grain per day. I'd be stuffed otherwise.

I don’t like my baked beans, I’d have just had the toast.

I’m guessing they are the sort of doormats who get pushed around endlessly IRL so take the little bit of power where possible.

Waitrose essentials are the best beans, taste like they used to.

Try Branston, you’ll never eat anything else. Stackable tins and they taste like one product rather than beans with sauce added, if that makes sense. Bloody lovely.

branched out into Waitrose essential baked beans, bit more expensive than my usual tesco/asda value, but we will see
