I dont care if theyre pals or not

I liked them in the 90s, they are just old millionaires now

Am sick of seeing them in the news

I'm pleased that Johnny Marr didn't insult anyone! He always comes across as nice.
( people will now say he isn't I suppose !)

SoundsBetterTogether · 27/08/2024 21:40

A friend’s 16 year old saw Liam at Leeds Festival at the weekend and thought he was amazing. Lots of interest from the younger crowd.

When I saw Liam in my 40s, the crowd ranged from teens to about 60. Really good atmosphere with the mixed age group.

NOBODY CARES, they were jerks who were into getting drunk, fags and drugs... proper talented .... NOT

the80sweregreat · 27/08/2024 21:42

The think that would annoy me is ( I bet ) the celebs who will be filmed going along in their bucket hats who manage to get the best tickets when the real fans might struggle to or might miss out altogether, that's what usually happens

Toptotoe · 27/08/2024 21:43

It was top item on the bbc regional news tonight.
Absolute hype.
i’m really not bothered. Do they have the same publicist as Harry and Meghan I wonder?

My interest only extends to how long they will tolerate each other before one of them flounces. It's bound to happen........

This was the conversation me and my DH had.
I liked them in their heyday, even tried for tickets in 1995 from a pay phone in the sixth form common room. I surprised myself at how many of the words I still knew from the wall to wall coverage this morning...
I'll not be bothering now though.

the80sweregreat · 27/08/2024 21:47

I agree it's been hyped up a lot on tv and probably will be next year too!
I just hope they don't disappoint their fans and it goes smoothly.

There won't be a Smiths reunion, or to be precise, one of the three members still living, as Andy Rourke died last year.

spaceshooter · 27/08/2024 21:49

It's August, last week we had an ex footballer texting women who aren't his wife as the lead story on the 10 o'clock news. Silly season.

He was lovely. Came on, played the best guitar I've ever heard, some nice appreciation for the audience and a gracious acceptance that most people wanted to hear the Smiths stuff. NG got quite arsey with people calling out for Oasis numbers.

the80sweregreat · 27/08/2024 21:52

Ahh, always loved Johnny Marr . Such a talented musician.

Inastatus · 27/08/2024 21:52

Each to their own but my 17 year old DS is so excited about it and I loved them back in the day so I’ll certainly be trying for tickets on Sat.

the80sweregreat · 27/08/2024 21:53

I really hope the true fans get the tickets and not the touts to sell on.

Didshejustsaythatoutloud · 27/08/2024 21:54

I concur. They think they are "rockstars" (they are so not 😂) background music when your chilling, maybe.... at a push. Never really got them 🤔

The celebs wouldn't be where the general public will be so no one is going to miss out if celebs go.

Prawncow · 27/08/2024 21:57

Musicians doing drugs and drinking?

What have Harry and Meghan got to do with it? Are you one of the obsessives from the RF board?

the80sweregreat · 27/08/2024 21:58

The riffs on ' champagne supernova ' are sublime and kind of wash over you! It is an awesome track , it's a just a shame the two of them are not nicer people really considering they are talented and wrote some great 90s anthems.

I bet the second coming of the Lord wouldn't have as much media coverage these 2 Muppets are getting.

the80sweregreat · 27/08/2024 22:02

Chris Evan probably has his ticket already ! 😂

@Didshejustsaythatoutloud I get that you might not be into them but they are certainly rockstars in the eyes of many people.
