I dont care if theyre pals or not

I liked them in the 90s, they are just old millionaires now

Am sick of seeing them in the news

OP posts:

I love them and always have. I will try and get tickets because I like them. If you don't like them don't get tickets. We all have different likes and dislikes in life, if we didn't the world would be a very boring place to be.

the80sweregreat · 27/08/2024 21:15

I thought that Noel Gallagher did a good set at Glastonbury a few years ago ( I never go to festivals , only watch on tv) and he seems alright. I love ' what's the story ' but there is no way on earth I'd pay to go to see them.
lol at crowdfunder! ..
I hope those that do go along have a great time and they don't disappoint or have a big bust up again or whatever, although it does seem they need the money ( or one of them does)

supersonicginandtonic · 27/08/2024 21:16

They do appreciate their fans. I did the Manchester music tour several years ago. When we went to their childhood home, Liam was visiting his mum and came out to say hello to everybody. He was a really nice guy shen he wasn't putting on a show on stage.

Was never really into them at all and I can't stand their name. It's a shop. It's weird green stuff you stick flowers in... or a pond in the desert. It's such a not even slightly rock'n'roll name, it's always got right on my nerves!

But now I've got that off my chest, knock yourself out Oasis lovers! Have a nice time, I will be listening to the Smiths and Stevie Wonder.

The Smiths. 😆 Oh my god, The Smiths are the worst, most boring, dreary, band of them all - and Morrissey is an A star knob head. Talentless, boring, physically unattractive, and a SHIT SINGER. Not a single person I know can stand the sight of him. 99% of posters on this forum couldn't name more than two hits by The Smiths!

The cheek of YOU bashing Oasis. with daft comments like 'it's the weird green stuff you stick flowers' and 'it's a pond in the desert' or 'it's a shop' and then go on to say you like the Smiths. 😂

I think that's probably the funniest most hilarious comment on here. The Smiths are absolute crap. Catch yourself on!

dottiehens · 27/08/2024 21:20

I have heard more about Oasis reunion from the haters in MN. What if they are millionaires? 😂 God forbid people make money.

At least those two coming out from a home with an abuser father did something even if they were damaged beyond their talent.

the80sweregreat · 27/08/2024 21:21

Leave ' the smiths' alone! I can name more than three hits by them and Johhny Marr is a god in my eyes!
I admit that not many people like them, but the lyrics are genius and they have their place in British music culture along with Oasis and Blur.

SoundsBetterTogether · 27/08/2024 21:23

Nothing wrong with that at all but name me a song from 97 onwards that was any good. There weren't any.

Stop crying your heart out was a great song and was after 97 I think. More like early 2000s And Little by Little.

ALunchbox · 27/08/2024 21:25

I guess they're iconic of an era during which many mumsnetters were teenagers, hence the numerous posts. I guess people are nostalgic.
I wonder if there'd be another band from the same decade that would trigger the same reaction upon reuniting?

stayathomer · 27/08/2024 21:27

Weirdly in the last few years any interviews I’ve heard with Liam he seems to have become more sensible where Noel seems to be more angry!! (Not sure if this is actually the case!!!)

5128gap · 27/08/2024 21:27

cardibach · 27/08/2024 20:36

Is he? The on,y set I’ve ever walked out of was Noel and his fucking high flying birds. He was sooo ride to the audience, arrogant and offensive. Yes, ok, some of the songs are good. Not good enough to listen to that though.

I saw him recently (I went for Johnny Marr who was supporting) and enjoyed it more than I expected. Mainly because of the Oasis numbers and the huge crowd sing along. He didn't say much tbh. What he did say was unfunny and mildly insulting (to the city we were in) but nothing awful. You just thought oh shut up and get on with it.

SoundsBetterTogether · 27/08/2024 21:29

Holllyaxe · 27/08/2024 20:05

This is going to be annoying. They are just doing it for the money of course.

Whats wrong with them doing it for the money? It's a big part of why most of us work. 🤣

the80sweregreat · 27/08/2024 21:30

I always guessed they would reunite at some stage. People like nostalgia and reliving their youth and I hope it goes well.
Most of the time the crowd will sing most of it anyway !

cardibach · 27/08/2024 21:31

He went on and on insulting people, fans, front row people, everyone 8n the crowd for being ‘middle class’ (hypocrite) when I saw him @5128gap It was unbearable.

Lancasterel · 27/08/2024 21:34

Appalonia · 27/08/2024 19:31

I know what you mean OP, some pp are talking about this like it's the second coming! Think it's really about some pp wanting to both revisit their youth and a time when the UK seemed like a more optimistic place, not the insane, conflict riven shitshow it is right now.

I think your last sentence hits the nail on the head for me! I’d love to see them and have such nostalgia for the 90s…

HÆLTHEPAIN · 27/08/2024 21:34

These threads always make me chuckle. It’s the not so hidden snobbery. People come on thinking it’s cool to hate something a lot of other people like. The Taylor Swift threads are the same. There was the coffee thread the other week and god forbid if you happen to like Starbucks or Costa.

I’m of the age where Oasis were a significant soundtrack to our (mine and my friends’) lives, and though I’m not a particular fan of Oasis, why shouldn’t their fans be pleased and excited about something that will probably take them for a trip down memory lane to when times seemed more positive.

Not quite in the same league but I’m off to the Empire in Middlesbrough for a Sugar Shack retro type night and although I’m pushing 50 and won’t be able to dance like I used to, the though of just taking that trip down memory lane is so exciting!

I love the Citrus Punch but don’t care much for summer fruits.

I agree. Liam at least seems to be able to laugh at himself a bit. Noel still seems like a twat, more of a twat than he was. He slags off any musicians doing well, Harry Styles, Ed Sheeran, Lewis Capaldi. I do like Oasis though, they were a soundtrack to my younger years so I will be trying to get tickets. I've saw them years ago and I've seen Liam live too. My partner and kids are up for it as well so it'll be great if we can get tickets.

Prawncow · 27/08/2024 21:36

I bet. The problem with him is its all aggression without any wit or personality to soften it. The contrast with the lovely Johnny Marr was pretty stark.

the80sweregreat · 27/08/2024 21:38

What's the story .. is still one of my favorite albums and I was never really that keen on any of them as people, I just liked that particular album and very track is a winner!
( I Still wouldn't part with hundreds of pounds to sing Wonderwall in a park , but kudos to those who will! )

Yep. These people should live Noel because he's like that too. As I said previously he's slagged off Ed Sheeran, Harry Styles and Lewis Capaldi, probably more.

A friend’s 16 year old saw Liam at Leeds Festival at the weekend and thought he was amazing. Lots of interest from the younger crowd.
