to honestley wonder, why have children if you WANT to stay home and are not prepared to make ANY sacrifices to provide for them financially?

don't mean parents that HAVE to stay home because they can't afford childcare.

i mean the ones that choose to for no other reason, other than they enjoy staying out of the work place so much.
if you enjoy your hhouse so much, thats great.
but what i really do not understand is why have children?
no one makes any of these parents have children, you can go though life without having children.

this is 100% genuine question, i just do not get it.

Every one of my posts on the other thread fits here too. (Well maybe not the one about DH getting more BJs)

MummyDoIt · 17/04/2008 17:33

Not sure I really understand your question, Athene. Most SAH parents do so because they want to be there for their children. I have never come across anyone who has had children simply to give them an excuse to stay at home. Do you personally know people who have done this? There are plenty of childless people who choose not to look for work, you certainly don't need a child to be able to avoid workiing.

Just having a bit of fun with the other genuinely nasty thread.

I know several lovely SAHMs (and Ds!)

god, I dunno.

If I hadn't have had them, I would be able to watch neighbours without being interrupted.

And there would never be any mess.

I'd only have to hoover once a week.

I need never look at Justin Fletcher again (not that I don't heart him, but if I were on my own I wouldn't bother )

I could ride my bike to the shops.

I could re-stock my glasses cabinet.

I could have a nice, pretty garden instead of one with slides and seesaws in it.

Now you mention it, perhaps I should donate my three to some workaholic type so I can have my house back.

MummyDoIt · 17/04/2008 17:39

Oh right! Didn't see the other thread first. Off to take a look!

SquonkTheBeerGuru · 17/04/2008 17:39

be careful, MummyDoIt...

AtheneNoctua · 17/04/2008 17:44

Yes, bring your Kevlar.

Ooooh, took a quick look, ducked and ran for cover. Way too scary for me!

AtheneNoctua · 17/04/2008 17:51

Xenia has just arrived. Shall go home, get popcord and hardhat, and pull up a comfy office chair.

i dont know what the other thread says, but my answer to your OP is, i have my children so that I can love and look after them, that does involve sacrifice, my career and our lack of money - if you dont like it, KISS MY ARSE!!

lucyellensmum · 17/04/2008 17:53

oh, theres another thread, i'm in a argumentative mood - link please

AtheneNoctua · 17/04/2008 17:54

Think you need to check out the other thread to understand this one. Just making light of the situation. 'tis not a serious question.

Check out the other OP -- which is truly vile.

OP posts:
AtheneNoctua · 17/04/2008 17:54

Do you still want me to kiss your arse?

MummyDoIt · 17/04/2008 17:58

Might go and take a peek at what Xenia has to say. If I creep in quietly, they might not notice I'm there. [tiptoes off]

CristinaTheAstonishing · 17/04/2008 18:00

Athene, i think we're meeting tomorrow evening. Discuss MN? Never.

pennytee · 17/04/2008 18:00

We all make sacrifices, mine just happens to be my sanity

MummyDoIt · 17/04/2008 18:00

Jeez, is she for real? Does she actually, genuinely believe what she says! [shakes head in disbelief]

I don't think WAHM is ideal either. It's the "working" bit in it that would bugger things up. You actually need time off kids to be able to concentrate.

ellideb · 17/04/2008 18:07

Where's this other thread please? how do I find it? Can someone link it for me?

MummyDoIt · 17/04/2008 18:09

It's got a very similar title to this. You'll find it in active conversations.

lucyellensmum · 17/04/2008 18:10

athen - yes of course, but i do have a HUGE spot at the moment, so i'll let you off
