Mumsnet seems to be the only one where people are witty with banter.
I've not found another where you can talk as you do in real life.
They often are full of things which just aren't like true conversation.

well ive got one foot in both camps at the min! it is rather fluffy tho which is fine but sometimes a hug isnt much help when your wanting proper practical advice or a kick up the arse. its all very 'nice', which is nice i guess.

Some thoughts:

I heard on Radio4 (natch ) that I Want My Mum is Annaliese Barbieri's site? Which prolly makes it worth a look. In the very old days when I knew nothing about BF and had a terrible time, I got quite a lot of help and support from UKparents which someone else mentioned earlier. I don't know if it is still going. If I had known about MN before 2007, I would have been here ALL THE TIME, as I am now.

And, yes, I agree with the idea that here, it's all about the words. I think this is important: the lack of tickers, extensive lolling etc means you have to have something to say here. Which is a good thing and long may it stay that way.

And finally: that SheikYerbouti is back .

IWMM was set up by Annalisa B, yes.
I did join, when I'd become disillusioned by Babycentre (am parent forum ho') but my membership lapsed (am cheapskate ho') It's very supportive.

Prefer the utter honesty of MN though....

I had a subscription to IWMM but found it hard to flit in and out. It's a close knit site, you can't flap about anonymously. I did like iy though, friendly and very sound attitudes to parenting.
