Mumsnet seems to be the only one where people are witty with banter.
I've not found another where you can talk as you do in real life.
They often are full of things which just aren't like true conversation.
Or maybe it's ME

What fight?

cmotdibbler · 17/04/2008 21:03

I posted on BC MC and PAM boards, and still do a little on 'Breastfeeding older babies and beyond', but never on the birth boards or elsewhere. They scare me, and if you aren't part of the incrowd you get ignored. And the signatures are a nightmare - the birthclub people have these joint montages of their children now which are huuuuge. I do have one ticker though , but only because its easier than constantly reeling off how long you've been bfing.

I like the arguing here..

northernrefugee39 · 17/04/2008 21:05

Yeah good arguments...

JaneHH · 17/04/2008 21:09

do they have popcorn and cake on these other sites?

PosieParker · 17/04/2008 21:10

Babycentre has gone a little social networking, the groups are quite funny in a 'would you like to join my clique' sort of way!!

northernrefugee39 · 17/04/2008 21:11

No popcorn just wedges AND jacket potatos served together

I go on a few and enter their comps. I like the banter on MN, but see why some people are scared off. But that is who the fluffy forums are for.

At least you can say what you like here. On some forums you have to be all sweetness and light (which of course I am), but if you have an opposing view, or try to put a bit of spark into a thread, they moderate your arse!

JaneHH · 17/04/2008 21:36

Dior
"Here things move so fast that you can't leave or you'll miss the next funny comment."

Hence the existence of this thread

morningpaper - its aminly cos people are on msn (which some saddos say isnt allowed as its too cliquey BTW how many people spell it clicky lmfao) and then alledgedly bitching about thread.

And so was getting nice and nasty - lots of lovely personal digs, very amusing. Poor mods could hardly keep up

morningpaper · 17/04/2008 21:45

blimey that's a bit SAD innit

JaneHH · 17/04/2008 21:48
Sidge · 17/04/2008 21:49

I used to post a lot on Babyworld but got so pissed off with it.

It's moderated to chuff - if you write 'bloody' you get your post deleted (I think BW would spontaneously combust if someone typed fuckingwankyshitbollocks) and if you have an opinion that disagrees with either the general consensus or one of the Chosen Few, you get put on moderation! Fuck that.

And when it went all glittery and twatty I legged it and found the comforting bosom of Mumsnet

LyraSilvertongue · 17/04/2008 21:49

I got my butt smacked on another site for daring to disagree with someone. Bloody moderators.

mumof2teenboys · 18/04/2008 08:54

I think that RK is a bit too cliquey (is that a word?)
If you disagree with someone it can start to feel a bit 'personal' iykwim.
People tend to post about more 'fluffy' stuff i think.
Mumsnet feels a bit more real to me.

wishfort · 18/04/2008 11:50

Didn't know there were any others. Got onto this via a snide link from the TES. Like the posternames and top swearing which we role models can't, like you know, do. Innit.

LadyBoudica · 18/04/2008 16:49

Just taken a peek at the babycentre forum, those gushing banner, sparkly things are just vile. Mumsnet is much much better.

PosieParker · 18/04/2008 16:56

You should have a look at Widdies on babycentre, I think they pledge allegiance to Ann Widdicombe or something.

LadyBoudica · 18/04/2008 17:12

ok - I'll take another gander at the dark side

LadyBoudica · 18/04/2008 17:22

Just also found lots of reference to my "darlings" and "angels" mmmm.

PosieParker · 18/04/2008 17:50

mmm.....I've never had a mc and so have no understanding of the tickers of angel now have wings 5wks 2ds and on one birth club a poster had a photo of her stillborn baby . I thought it was very poor taste, or is that just me?

emj23 · 18/04/2008 17:53

I had a look at Netmums and I used to go on Babycentre quite a bit til I found MN, and now I can't look at either without being reminded of that ticker thread on here that had me crying with laughter. The forums on those sites are so twee and sickly in comparison. I can't cope with all the 'AF'ing and 'BD'ing.

Lauriefairycake · 18/04/2008 17:58

I've also been tempted to create a profile and see if I can manipulate some of them over time to join us here on the darkside

Call myself Mothersucker or something....

PosieParker · 18/04/2008 18:00

Perhaps we could support you with ideas about the outlandish shit you could coe up with, how about breastfeeding disgusts you to start???
