Belly button piercing...yes or know?

Sounds mad but I'm in my 50s and thinking about getting a belly button piercing....I think it looks pretty and feminine...feeling a bit down physically and trying to turn things round. Thought piercing might be a talking point BUT I am also a bit scared to have it done! Any advice? Would you have it done?

No.

Weevle84 · 26/08/2024 23:54

Go for it! Why not?!

pinkpantherxxx · 26/08/2024 23:54

Get it done YOLO lol I had mine done but had to take it out due to pregnancy doesn't hurt much either
I do agree does look really nice I want mine done again too

Aquamarine1029 · 26/08/2024 23:55

Know.

I'm not a fan of a belly button piercing but if you want it go for it!! Your age is 50 years young and why would that stop you. I swore I'd never have a tattoo and am now actively looking into it. Have triple pierced ears and also thinking (trying to muster the courage) for a few more in my ears! We are here once so let's be having it!!

Sugarnspicenallthingsnaice · 27/08/2024 00:10

A talking point? How often do you have your belly out for people to notice a piercing? Yours must be in better shape than mine, I keep it covered at all times!

But if you want one you should get one.

JobMatch3000 · 27/08/2024 00:11

Yes. I'm late 40s and love my naval piercing. I had it redone after pregnancy as I missed it!

AstonToTheNaughtyStep · 27/08/2024 00:12

I'm in my late 50s and had mine done 30 years ago. If it ever migrates out I'd have it repierced in a heartbeat.

Newdoggointhehouse · 27/08/2024 00:21

I had mine done at 18. Am 50 now. Never needed to remove it during pregnancy. Never given me any trouble. It really quite hurt having it done - though I suspect 32 years of piercing progress may has made this much better.

I quite love the fact that it’s a secret part of me being me that a lot of people I know never know about or see.

BashfulClam · 27/08/2024 00:21

I had mine done but it got infected and I couldn’t get the bar undone. I would don’t again as my bellybutton is quite deep so infection is likely again. I’d love to get my eyebrow done again though.

Kitkatcatflap · 27/08/2024 01:26

Absolutely not

DramaAlpaca · 27/08/2024 01:37

Sorry, but no. That's one for the flat bellied teens and twenty somethings amongst us, to be honest.

Get a cartilage ear piercing instead, and show it off as much as you like.

Sweetteaplease · 27/08/2024 01:55

No

Same . It’s been done nearly 40 years. I’ve never taken it out nit even in pregnancy x.

MonsteraMama · 27/08/2024 02:02

Why would it be a talking point? It's a pretty common piercing, I know quite a few women (and two men!) with it and I can't imagine how much of a talking point it'd be with them, what would there be to talk about?

Get something unusual like a corset piercing if you want people to talk about it. If you just want to do it for yourself to feel a bit more confident, go for it.

LoveLetter1 · 27/08/2024 02:20

It's your body. If you want it done, go for it.. I had mine done years ago and it didn't hurt at all.

blahblahblah24 · 27/08/2024 04:06

Get it done if you want. I'm not sure why it would be talking point unless you walk around with gone belly out? They take ages to heal too. I wouldn't bother personally

Howmanycatsistoomany · 27/08/2024 04:37

As others have said they take a looong time to heal (I had mine done in my 20s, got fed up after about 6 months and removed it).

MillyMollyMandHey · 27/08/2024 06:05

Why do you want to be a talking point?

It's a no from me.

Werweisswohin · 27/08/2024 06:07

Nope. I've never found it remotely attractive.
(I realise others like them do but you did ask for opinions).

sesquipedalian · 27/08/2024 06:31

I can’t imagine what would possess you to have such a piercing, but each to their own. Unless you have a washboard stomach, though, it won’t do anything to enhance your self-esteem. I would have thought buying something new and nice to wear would make you feel better in yourself - in all honesty, how often will you have such a piercing on display, other than when you’re on holiday? And any piercing can get infected.

marshmallowfinder · 27/08/2024 07:05

They are gross. NO (not know) from me.

Hunglikeapolevaulter · 27/08/2024 07:10

Go for it. Had mine at 20 and I'm now 50 and it still looks good and has never got infected or caused me any issues.

Dwappy · 27/08/2024 07:11

Had mine done at 19. Absolutely LOVED it for about 20 years. Took it out in my early 40s for an operation and just never put it back in. My belly is no longer as flat and sexy as it was! And no one but my husband sees my belly these days because of that!

poshfrock · 27/08/2024 07:14

I'm 53 and had mine done about 20 years ago. Never had a problem with it. I still love it although it only gets seen on holiday when I'm in a bikini ( outside the bedroom). FTR I don't have a washboard stomach 😁
