Does this mean we are doomed…?

Came home to find a dead bird on my doorstep… Literally can’t fathom how it would end up there. Live in the countryside but how did it get there???
Of course the ring doorbell isn’t charged, so can’t check if it was put there. I’m SO freaked out right now after googling ‘dead bird on doorstep’. It wasn’t a little bird either - some sort of crow looking thing. I was screaming and my partner removed it, so I didn’t get a good look. Anyone else out there ever experienced anything similar?

Could it be a present from your cat (if you have one)?

Could it have flown into a window and fatally injured itself?

THIS.

If a glass door, birds can fly into them and get killed, unfortunately.

DoIWantTo · 26/08/2024 19:20

Yes; yes it does.

everythingthelighttouches · 26/08/2024 19:30

Misread the post initially and thought the bird had started screaming! Now that would have been worthy of a post.

But no.

Ohdearyme72 · 26/08/2024 19:33

Yeah, they're on to you.

You live in the country and scream at a dead bird? Good grief.

Well if I wanted to Hex you and bring disease and death to your door, this might be part of my repertoire as a Witch. However, I could just as easily Hex you and you not know the first thing about it. So swings and roundabouts innit?

housethatbuiltme · 26/08/2024 20:04

Probably flew into your door and broke its neck... unfortunate but not rare, especially if it was panicking, separated from the other birds while being chased by a bird of prey.

Grammarnut · 26/08/2024 20:17

Birds die. Sometimes they do it on doorsteps. Don't be so daft.

Oneearringlost · 26/08/2024 20:20

@Isinglass20
It was Private Fraser x

Delphiniumandlupins · 26/08/2024 20:31

You're not as doomed as the poor bird.

GabriellaFaith · 26/08/2024 22:21

A hawks dropped it, a cats left it, a fox spooked, it flew into your door, a kids winding you up....

MissPeachyKeen · 26/08/2024 22:32

Shit. I think they got her.

tolerable · 26/08/2024 23:06

Oh dear,yes... absolutely most very definitely a foretelling of imminent doom...curse can ONLY be broken by long hard look in mirror whilst saying aloud "amma fannie"

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 26/08/2024 23:19

Some countryside advice for you- don't go for a pleasant country walk when myxomatosis is going round. More dead rabbits than Watership Down!!!

SuperBlondie28 · 26/08/2024 23:50

As a child, I found a dead bird under my bed.. At least I know my own cat put it there, so a bird on the doorstep is nothing!!!

Thevelvelletes · 26/08/2024 23:57

It's an omen..Get out.

amma fannie 😂😂😂

OrkneyGirl · 27/08/2024 00:49

I think it's been placed deliberately It's the crow description that got me. Once came across weird place in middle of woods with crows hung up on tress. Crows don't die on doormat. Too clever. It's been placed.

AmIEnough · 27/08/2024 07:26

Fox?

Whostolemymojo · 27/08/2024 08:06

Gorgonemilezola · 24/08/2024 23:56

Birds do die. They don't live for ever. And they have to die somewhere. It might as well be your doorstep. Give it a lovely shoebox funeral.

😂😂😂😂😂

pd339 · 27/08/2024 08:17

Sounds like you are indeed doomed; not because of the bird but your reaction to it!
