I don't understand? Your life hack is to drain something by letting liquid run out of the hole???

🤣🤣🤣

thecatsthecats · 19/08/2024 09:55

My top tip is to never have a laundry basket bigger than the capacity of your machine, but it's not insane. Dull but useful.

(If you do sorted loads you just have one basket per load type.)

Tiddlywinkly · 19/08/2024 06:58

Thanks to a tip from a colleague, I now drain the tuna water into an ice cube tray and freeze it. One can produces about 2-3 full cubes. I pop one out of the tray and put it in a bowl for my cat on a hot day. He loves licking it and I know he's getting some extra hydration.

To add, it's the tuna in spring water one, not brine!

Edited

I like this. I may even get a cat now.

PlanningTowns · 19/08/2024 10:08

Possibly boring but it blows my mind every time! 1p or 2p to rid limescale off of taps (or anywhere - used it on the outside of a kettle yesterday!).

Demonhunter · 19/08/2024 10:09

Not a hack but a tip if anyone didn't know.

Storing berries, grapes ans salad veg in glass jars in your fridge makes them last double the time than if they're in plastic! I've converted everyone I know into this. (Put some kitchen roll lining the jar too and it soaks up the excess moisture)

Beautiful3 · 19/08/2024 10:11

But it stinks, now you're going to have to clean out the sink?! Why not just open, squeeze the lid down into the sink, next to a running cold tap?!

LaMarschallin · 19/08/2024 08:30

I am OBSESSED by this hack!!!

Mine is: when I put the heating on, I immediately turn it down by 5°. This saves my DH time later.

I am going to do this all winter!

This thread is so funny!

😂

Pocketfullofdogtreats · 19/08/2024 10:12

I have one about getting jar lids off. Instead of bashing them or putting elastic bands round them, all you do is get a bottle opener ( or the bit on the handle of the tin opener) and lever up the lid a bit. This breaks the seal, et voila! Easy peasy.

Oooh yes, my mam taught me this little trick years ago! It's a good one!

This is just adorable. Your cat is so lucky.

Waiting for the tip about getting rid of belly fat by eating a surprising food ...

Do you mean those pop-up ads on my tablet are lying?

How about that game that prevents Alzheimers?

When I think of all the time I've wasted playing, erm, lost the thread now....

I do actually have an insane life hack that will save your sanity.

When giving drinks in cartons to children, first peel up the little triangles on either side at the top so it looks like it has ‘ears’. Put straw in and tell child to hold it by the ‘ears’ as you give it to them to drink. Voila, no immediate squeezing the middle of the carton and getting the contents all over them and you.

Saw someone do this yesterday, life changed.

Do you think that would also work for DHs ?

I know it’s early, but..

Anyway I got this HACK from Viz

Fill an old smartie tube with angry wasps for an inexpensive vibrator

Found this top tip, sorry, life hack, on Instagram yesterday

That pic only partially loaded for me at first; I thought it was the remains of some poor sod that got eaten by a wild animal! 😱 😅

ScottBakula · 19/08/2024 10:33

Hateam · 19/08/2024 05:52

I boil water and put it the freezer.

In the event of my boiler breaking I can defrost it and have boiling water.

I am definitely going to use this tip !

😄

Cherrysoup · 19/08/2024 08:08

Who has Tim for this? Plus, it wouldn’t be properly drained, it needs pressing in to get out more liquid, particularly the flavoured tins in oil.

Everyone should have a friendly Tim to drain their tuna (or tuno, if they're veggie/vegan).

REP22 · 19/08/2024 10:36

Never eat yellow snow, or pick blackberries that grow below knee height.

Don't stink out your sink and drain with manky unattended tuna water is another one.

OMG it’s Jane! JANE! I’d know that sink anywhere. Jane, how are you? I had no idea you ate tuna!

DrinkElephants · 19/08/2024 10:39

Hardly a life hack if you have to wait a few minutes???

I just take the tin lid off and then use that to apply pressure to the contents so the water drains out and food stays in. Doesn’t take a few minutes takes about ten seconds.

Useful tip: what we always referred to as "useful tips" are now known as "life hacks".

Not to intelligent people!

INSANE life hack

This sort of clickbait that invariably leads to a pretty boring article about nothing is what's wrong with so much nowadays.

You leave a tin of tuna to drip down your sink - amazing 🙄

You seriously have to change your username in case anybody recognises your sink. I have no words.

GinToBegin · 19/08/2024 10:44

Another one from Viz.

Don't waste money on expensive binoculars, simply stand closer to the thing you want to see.

REP22 · 19/08/2024 10:47

If you want to know your weight - weigh yourself holding your cat. Then weigh your cat. Subtract the second figure from the first. That's how much you weigh!!

You're welcome.
