We've all read it. If you're replying to it we assume you've read it too. We don't need to scroll all the way through it again just to see your nugget of wisdom. Behave.

It is annoying, granted, but if I were you I’d just LTB, go NC with someone, and then have a massive salad to calm down.

Yes.

Please, people. Stop doing it.

No

It works for some people... so guess they'll just carry on...

This will be my last time.

NotStayingIn · 10/08/2024 18:05

Drives me crazy too, really wish they would disable that option.

BirthdayRainbow · 10/08/2024 18:05

I pointed out it wasn't necessary weeks ago and got slated by people who don't know how to communicate politely. I think some posters must do it so they can refer back to it but then don't realise they can then remove the quote..

AutumnCrow · 10/08/2024 18:06

PeriIsKickingMyButt · 10/08/2024 17:44

👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
it's so annoying. It's also a thousand miles past being funny when people quote the OP in response to someone posting a thread asking this.

Well, quite. Like a fucking tedium sandwich.

DerekFaker · 10/08/2024 18:08

Gelasring · 10/08/2024 17:18

Funnily enough, twice recently I've replied to an op without quoting and the person who posted immediately before has got the hump, assuming I'm talking to them.

In both cases I thought it was glaringly obvious I was replying to the op. It did make me think maybe I should always quote the op when replying

Just refer to the OP in your post, as in

Yes, I agree with you OP.

(And I do agree, especially when the post is very long.)

pizzaHeart · 10/08/2024 18:08

LaMarschallin · 10/08/2024 17:17

Drives me wild.
Especially when it's a massive post that has to scrolled past just to see 👏or something equally meaningful at the end.

I agree with this^
by the way I only feel like this about OP’s original post, if people are answering to further updates the quoting is actually very helpful.

Sorry, couldn't help myself.

It isn’t funny. I just sort of go - honestly, that’s your idea of a hilarious joke?

Justleaveitblankthen · 10/08/2024 18:12

I only use the App, which has limited functions at the best of times but, I would love to be able to immediately block any knobhead that does this 😡
In my experience, it's often poster number 3 or 4.
No Idea if they are the same person every time as I'm too busy scrolling furiously 🤬

Devilsmommy · 10/08/2024 18:14

@jannier I'm on the app and all you do is press the @ on your keyboard and the list of posters is there so pick the one you want to reply to.
See OP I'm helping 🙂‍↕️

jannier · 10/08/2024 18:18

@Devilsmommy
Thanks....just have to remember the name now. If only the site told you.

Exactly.
It's that sort of feeble attempt at humour (repeated over & over) that makes me realise how much I would have hated being a primary school teacher.
Although at least young children can be expected to mature and learn.

seriesoffortunateevents · 10/08/2024 18:19

I honestly think people either don’t know etiquette or do it to annoy. It’s not even funny and you can see folks repeating the op thinking they are legends in their own lunch hour, when everyone else is just thinking what a twat,

OrangeSquareBlob · 10/08/2024 18:21

There is a way round it.

Press quote, write your reply, then clear quote before you post.

I do that as I can't remember all of OPs post then need to read it while I write.
