to report this to the police, even though I am technically implicating myself?

My local park is locked overnight and isn’t opened until 6am. It’s a huge park but in one area part of the fence is missing so I squeeze through and go into the park to walk my dog at 4am (he is an XL bully so I like to go the park when nobody is about)

The last few mornings when I have been walking round by the pond there have been a couple of men sitting on the benches next to the pond “feeding the ducks”. I noticed they have black bin liners next to them too. I’m pretty sure I recognise these men from working in a takeaway restaurant.

I am concerned they are trying to catch ducks. I hope i’m wrong, but I just can’t see why two adult men would sit feeding the ducks at 4am?! Especially as the park is officially closed and they have bin liners next to them.

AIBU to report this to the police, even though I’ll be implicating myself too?

I thought you were gout to report them for having sex in the park. Maybe go for a walk at 4.30 next time and see what you see!

You're walking a dog that is dangerous and off a lead, probably without a muzzle.
Maybe they are watching you....

She never said the dog is off the lead?

SummerScarf · 10/08/2024 15:57

Seriously… there are many more options than “feeding the ducks” and “catching the ducks”. They could be homeless. Or dealing drugs. Or exchanging goods for some other criminal enterprise. Or doing some weird sex thing. Or just be nocturnal types who like hanging out in parks when it’s quiet. Or be chilling on their way home from a late shift at work.

Fullyflavoured · 10/08/2024 15:58

You need to report them to the old bill.

please make it make sense.

the only thing I’m “definitely doing wrong” is entering a locked park.

BUT they are also entering a locked park?

So at the least we are both equally wrong.

They might go into the park when it’s open and get locked in. So not entering a locked park .

I suppose at least the duck is sort of free range ?

You’re allowed to walk an XL bully off lead on private property? The park is closed at 4am so it’s private property.

I hope you know how completely ignorant you sound, did you read the post properly?
She goes out at 4am because she's responsible and most likely wants to avoid judgy people like you. Honestly love get a life and stop being such a keyboard warrior 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

Responsible is lead and muzzled.Just going out without them is not responsible.

Yes but it’s not your private property and you had no right to be there at that time .Take it it isn’t muzzled either.

FatmanandKnobbin · 10/08/2024 16:00

You're probably just pissed off that others are there so you have to abide by the law on having a muzzle/lead.

They aren't sitting in the park at 4am trying to catch a duck or 2 to save a tenner when they will have to be buying loads wholesale anyways.

Also, what chinese takeaways have bin bags full of bread left over every night - bread isn't even a thing in chinese takeaways.

My mind actually went to them dumping waste.

I don't think ducks are that easy to catch? And who would they be stealing them from? Aren't ducks regularly hunted?

This has happened local to me before. Takeaway food dumped in pond. Huge amounts

Cas112 · 10/08/2024 16:02

@Imperrysmum OP why are you walking your dog at 4am? Is your dog neutered and do you have the required licence? Or is that what you're actually hiding? Because if you had those things then there would be no need to walk at that time. Unless the dog the dog will attack people if walked at normal times in which case you wouldn't be able to get a license for it...

frannygallops · 10/08/2024 16:02

Sounds like they should be reporting you!

Restricted breeds don’t get down well on here.

OhmygodDont · 10/08/2024 16:03

Off lead on not fully fenced land that isn’t yours without owners permission. That’s not legal at all.

Imperrysmum · 10/08/2024 15:34

Surely this makes me a responsible XL bully owner? As i’m walking him at 4am when the park is closed, therefore it’s on private property?

its still not private property. You don't magically own it once it shuts.

Maybe OP's eyes have deceived her and those lucky duckies are actually feasting on bags full of surplus prawn crackers.
