to report this to the police, even though I am technically implicating myself?

My local park is locked overnight and isn’t opened until 6am. It’s a huge park but in one area part of the fence is missing so I squeeze through and go into the park to walk my dog at 4am (he is an XL bully so I like to go the park when nobody is about)

The last few mornings when I have been walking round by the pond there have been a couple of men sitting on the benches next to the pond “feeding the ducks”. I noticed they have black bin liners next to them too. I’m pretty sure I recognise these men from working in a takeaway restaurant.

I am concerned they are trying to catch ducks. I hope i’m wrong, but I just can’t see why two adult men would sit feeding the ducks at 4am?! Especially as the park is officially closed and they have bin liners next to them.

AIBU to report this to the police, even though I’ll be implicating myself too?

Im not missing the point at all, I am well aware that the point is the spurious claim these men were stealing ducks or otherwise up to no good.

I am addressing someone elses point (that is a thing people do on threads, they evolve, other points arise and are discussed), that the OP appears responsible as a dog owner.

She is not, she's breaking the conditions of the exemption certificate.
I have presumed the dog is unmuzzled, you are correct, but it actually doesn't matter either way.

Either way, the whole point of the original post was about the ducks/swans.OP has updated, the matter has been resolved, so that’s really good news.

And what was this meant to be?

If you're supportive of the poster or not, just call it out.

Don't be incideous with comments, as there are already too many spiteful little people commenting, under their banner of free speech etc.

Just another way of justifying bullying!

But that's my opinion, hurtful or not, I'm entitled too apparently.

How did you clamp his mouth shut if he was wearing a muzzle? 🙄

Oh jesus christ we were in a bush for 3 hours, he needs some water, snacks and a bloody break from the muzzle. Stop being so mean to an innocent dog.

Just caught up on all this OP. I'm quietly chuckling and you and your dog conducting hours worth of surveillance on two wild swimmers!!
I'd have been suspicious too but happily it was a harmless outcome.
Well done to you both for potentially protecting wildlife-sort of!

Having a dog in a bush for 3 hours, its the Special Woofconnaissance Regiment lol

Surely this makes me a responsible XL bully owner? As i’m walking him at 4am when the park is closed, therefore it’s on private property?

Huh? No, it's a public park. The fact the gates are locked for the night doesn't change that! And how do you get to the park...?

EveSix · 26/08/2024 02:22

Thank you for the update, OP. That is very sweet. Those guys have given me notions... I've a nearby large pond which would probably be a lovely place to swim in a heatwave (next summer), I've just never thought of it. I love that feeling though, when you're the only one(s) awake someplace and can sort of do as you please, within reason.

Well it does sound a bit dodgy.
Before reporting anything, I'd be going back to the park without dog to observe them more closely.

I take it that is a joke. What a stupidly unsafe suggestion. Don't go to the park alone in the middle of the night to approach or spy on suspicious men Op please

Too late squire, the bun is out of the oven.

As seen from above OP posts, she's already done a little 'surveillance' operation lmaooo

Nah, OP just hides in a bush for 2 hours at 4am in the morning instead lol
(Apparently)

Suspicious behaviour and potentially stealing ducks?

it's illegal to steal domesticated ducks from a pond . report them as it's happening near me aswell . my fav muscovy duck was taken on halloween night . they come and throw nets over the ducks . iam furious and really sad that this has happened . if no one reports this it will carry on . iam very aware and alert now to seeing strange men walking round our pond . then later that night the ducks gone missing . i mean who do they think they are . !!

ScottBakula · 20/11/2024 19:37

ZOMBIE ( ish ) thread.

@Lottielou345 I guess you feel you didn't need to read even @Imperrysmum s updates let alone the whole thread

Lottielou345 · 20/11/2024 20:09

iv only just joined this forum because my ducks are disappearing. recently the village muscovy duck gone it's broken me so im just on the look out for tips etc . didn't mean to offend . it seems to me there's a lot of misunderstandings on these forums so im not gonna bother after this message .

ScottBakula · 20/11/2024 22:33

You didn't offend but unfortunately there are lots of times when the OP ( original poster ) has updated their thread and yet people pile on to give excuses/ reasons /solutions that have either already been suggested dozens of time or can be quite hurtful .
I prime example was a few months ago the OP was looking for advice and a hand hold when her dog bit a family member .
Lots saying put it to sleep , others saying it may be in pain/ ill etc . OP updated regularly and it turned out the dog had a brain tumor so the op had to have the dog put down .
Loads of people still said, it's got a ear infection / get it to the vets / it may have tooth ache etc . Op was understandably very upset.
Mnhq even edited the tite to say read the updates before posting yet lots still piled on.
There are lots of other threads like this too,
I know you didn't do this , but you can see how it can be frustrating.
To read the ops updates click on the 'see next ' or 'see all' in the bottom right corner.

ScottBakula · 20/11/2024 22:40

Hmm OK I now see you are not new to mn , you were around in Sept 2022 , claiming to be new then too.🤔🙄
