What we are seeing has less to do with poverty and everything to do with full on racism. All this sociological analysis of poverty/feeling left behind is a cover for their down right racism. You could each of them a million pounds and they would still have HATE in their heart for ‘foreigners’ born here or from boats.

I have just seen a video of a little girl about 10 years old walking hand in hand with her mother chanting “Pak** OUT” over and over again. Faces clear as day with the mother laughing. What mother uses a child in that way?

Media have a lot to answer for in this country. And Murdoch’s right wing press domination specifically. We’ve had Farage on every single political programme pontificating for about a decade now. He has been treated like the go to political pundit to zest up a panel. I am sick of seeing his gurning frog face in every programme let alone gold lined lifts with Trump. He has been given a huge platform by the media and now they have lots to report on and hand-wringing columns to write about how this all has come to pass. Aren’t the racist plebs awful? The King has plenty of time to lobby government about his vision for architecture, environmentalism etc with the black spider letters the press revealed before he was crowned - there was always concern he was too politically active. This reaction by certain groups in society is also down to the police and our security services only ever viewing radicalisation as a problem for brown people. Where’s the encouragement and responsibility being put on to white people (I am one) to start reporting those they know have extreme racist views like the campaigns that were run for Muslims ? It’s been stoked by the Conservatives relentlessly for votes and the timing of this is a reaction to the election.

I totally agree OP, but then we all know it's got nothing to do with those little girls in reality, it's mindless thuggery and an excuse to be openly racist and criminal.

I wonder how many people who they claim to be 'fighting for' to 'get their country back' have been injured, have had their property damaged, have had their cars damaged or totally destroyed, have lost money from losing work because businesses shut or will be shut because of damage that needs repairing. That's not fighting for anyone or anything, except for the sake of it, and in the case of the riots local to me, I highly suspect pissed and coked up idiots playing the hard man.

But someone will say they're poor and disenfranchised - so are most people at the moment because of the state of the country and the world, but they manage to not destroy what they claim to be seeking to 'protect'.

I said it on another thread but never mind the locals having to clear up the mess, all those arrested need to be taken out there and made to clean up their own bloody mess and pay for the damage they've caused.

I feel the same. I'm brown with an accent (N. American) and also an immigrant. I have mixed race children and am mixed race myself. I have never been afraid of living in the UK. I am now. Having serious talks with H about potentially moving out.

I have never been more grateful that my children can pass as full white. How fucking horrendous is that? The fact that I'm even thinking in those terms now.

There is no evidence that the Southport trajedy was racially motivated. The killer just happens to be black as Lucy Letby happens to be white.

You have absolutely zero evidence that the girls were targeted for their skills colour, so how can you make a statement like that as if you are aware of the full details of the case. Fake news and lies is part of what’s led to the targeting of mosques. We have limited information so stop spreading rumours.

No-one is protesting. Some people are using it as an excuse to have a riot.

Poverty is not the 'cover' for this, it is one of the main causes.
