The IBA performed the tests and given they were banned because of concerns about corruption I don't think their word carries any weight. Why should the boxers undergo testing that no other female athlete has to undergo because of Russian led corrupt organisation.

So where is the evidence from both the boxers teams that they are biological females?

we have tests saying they are male from an apparently corrupt organisation…should be a piece of piss to provide a test to say they are female.

bet i could do it in a week or so

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 10/08/2024 23:00

His team clearly don't believe he's a woman.

I did not know they have tested more than once. I only have read about the IBA test.

They weren't IBA tests, they were tests requested by the IBA.

The tests were conducted by two independent laboratories, one in Turkey and the other in India. Both laboratories are independent and certified so.

Both laboratories have the approval of the IOC (International OLYMPIC Committee) and the ISO (The International Standards Organisation).

What more proof would you like?

BeyondOlympicLevelProcrastinator · 10/08/2024 23:48

@SinnerBoy maybe this will be good enough proof...

“After the 2023 World Championships, where she was disqualified, I took the lead by contacting a renowned endocrinologist at the Paris University Hospital, Kremlin-Bicêtre, who examined her. He confirmed that Imane is indeed a woman, despite her karyotype and testosterone level. He said: "There is a problem with her hormones, with her chromosomes, but she is a woman. That's all that mattered to us. We then worked with a doctor based in Algeria to monitor and regulate Imane's testosterone level, which is currently in the female standard”

Perhaps you're simply a woman with a "problem with your karyotype and hormones" too, @SinnerBoy ? How would you know?!

Apparently "For Imane, she was born a daughter. She was raised like a girl. She has a girl's sensitivity."

Are you also a sensitive soul. Maybe you've been a woman all along? 🤔🙄

WTF is a "girl's sensitivity"?

BeyondOlympicLevelProcrastinator · 11/08/2024 00:03

@GargoylesofBeelzebub I think I may have fucked up on the tone of my post! 🤣

It's a quote from someone on khelifs team stating that funnily enough he does have XY chromosomes and "raised" (aka normal) testosterone - so no need for anyone to argue Reds Under the Bed any more, his own team say that the IBA results are accurate

bridgetreilly · 11/08/2024 00:06

If the IBA tests can’t be relied on, why didn’t the IOC do their own tests?

I do think this is a different and much more complicated question than trans sport. But fundamentally, no one has an absolute right to be a professional athlete, and especially not when their participation potentially endangers others. Doctors who identify the DSD should be the ones to determine whether the specific difference is such that it should preclude competing in women’s sport or not. As I understand it, many DSD are extremely minor and make no discernible difference to athletic ability, while others are much more substantial, taking the person well out of the normal range for women. Of course, the latter are more likely to pursue competitive sport, but are also the ones who need to be assessed more carefully.

I think there are cases where a person will simply need to be told that they are not eligible to compete, because of their specific DSD. It’s not anyone’s fault, but it is necessary to ensure fair, safe and competitive sport for women can continue.

If the IOC tested her then they should test all female athletes. Apparently this was stopped decades ago because female athletes considered it invasive. Is the consensus of opinion among athletes now different?

Im sure all the female athletes will be more than happy to take the same test to show solidarity

i will bet my house that the losing female boxers will deffo take the test….

this isn’t the case as far as i have read but as i don’t remember the statistics i will leave it to someone else

Think it was 82% of female athletes wanted to keep it.

@wombat15 did you see my post that one of khelifs medical team has confirmed "Imane is indeed a woman, despite her karyotype and testosterone level."

So confirmed by someone other than the IBA that khelif has XY chromosomes and male levels of testosterone?

They didn't say xy chromosomes specifically. It states that her testerone is within the normal range now.

BeyondOlympicLevelProcrastinator · 11/08/2024 00:43

Ffs 🤣 never mind - it's too late to repeat everything everyone has said for the past week all over again.

Just wondered if you'd seen, and clearly the answer is "I still don't care" 🤷🏼‍♀️

Ereshkigalangcleg · 11/08/2024 01:33

They didn't say xy chromosomes specifically.

Why would Khelif's "womanhood" be negated if there was no Y chromosome? You do realise there are only two types of chromosomes, so all the combinations either include one or both.

So yes, it's clear he meant that Khelif has a Y chromosome.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 11/08/2024 01:35

Apparently this was stopped decades ago because female athletes considered it invasive. Is the consensus of opinion among athletes now different?

This is nonsense. 82% of female athletes wanted to keep it when asked. The IOC ignored them.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 11/08/2024 01:35

Missed quote @wombat15

It’s not clear at all. One form of DSD is XXY chromosomes.
