They are not protestors. They are not protesting. They are common or garden thugs and criminals who are causing criminal damage, setting police offices on fire and attacking police officers.

Total scumbags.

We are visiting Weymouth this weekend. I’ve checked the local news. The only rumours are that it’s planned for 5pm by the jubilee clock.

im from Bristol. The counter march is planned tomorrow at 12 I think I’ve seen from castle park. Don’t think I could see much info about the edl one in local news

shams05 · 02/08/2024 23:39

Yup we had to change dds opticians appointment from Sunday to Saturday as Specsavers is right near the own hall and a protest is planned for Sunday.

True, but some may be encouraged to attend. then again, I suppose anyone with any inkling to attend will know the details already.

I find it very interesting that none of this mob turned out when Lucy Letby killed multiple babies, and was found guilty in court.

Yet when there's a rumour floating around on social media they can mobilise to smash up multiple towns and cities.

And who remembers all those women getting arrested at the vigil for Sarah Everard, I know it was during lockdown but the police were shocking. Oddly there was no rioting over the crimes of Wayne Couzens, a rapist and a murderer though Stephen Yaxley Lennon thinks rape is an appalling crime or is that only in certain circumstances?

No, the people inciting racial hatred everyday and blaming every issue in this country on immigration are to blame.

No the rioters who don't have a brain cell between them are to blame

They probably couldn't look up personal responsibility in a book nor have any idea why they are actually rioting except they have the intelligence level the size of a gnat

Yes. So they set fire to things and scare the shit out of people. Because they have good answers

Sorren · 02/08/2024 23:43

Unfortunately this has been bubbling for a while now I think. This awful incident is the match that lit the fire.

The right are stoking it and probably outside influences too. However there are also a lot of people (who mostly don’t use violence or even protest) who given a choice would prefer not have a hotel full of predominantly young male asylum seekers within walking distance of their house. It’s this issue and the governments failure to deal with it adequately that has led to this.

However, violent protests are totally unacceptable and if people are genuinely unhappy with this then they should protest peacefully about it.

The police need to get on top of this quickly and the government need to do whatever they can to dampen the dissent by being proactive on this issue.

I'm British, born and bred. I feel at risk from aggressive, thuggish rioters. I do not feel at risk from immigrants/people of colour.

I do want my country back, I want it back from the idiotic rioters.

QueenOfHiraeth · 02/08/2024 23:45

PandoraSox · 02/08/2024 23:25

I don't dismiss the idea of agents provocateurs, but if there are some they are not on the frontline of the riots or in government offices. They are in a room somewhere in another country, tapping out hate on a keyboard.

Just adjusting my tin foil hat!

I have some friends who are serious tin foil hat folk. They subscribe to the orchestrated and manipulated views of this but think the government and other shady powers are doing it to have an excuse to bring in restrictions, surveillance, 15 minute cities, etc.

ContactNightmare · 02/08/2024 23:46

Well there’s no effective right of protest give the last government and facial recognition tech is in Boots! They are a bit late with their paranoia

HeyTalkToMeGoose · 02/08/2024 23:47

PandoraSox · 02/08/2024 23:35

Is it a good idea to circulate the dates and times of the "protests". I know it will be all over Twitter etc, but maybe we shouldn't give them the extra oxygen? Plus MNHQ might not be happy!

Yes it's important

Mumsnetters and there children may otherwise get caught up in it and get hurt

EdithBond · 02/08/2024 23:48

Echobelly · 02/08/2024 22:44

Yup, they're just finding an excuse to be racist and fight with police. None of them give a fuck about women and children and I'll bet plenty of them are abusers

One from the Southport “protest” got arrested after police were called to a domestic abuse incident (on a ‘male’ in the household) and recognised him.

ThisGreyPanda · 02/08/2024 23:48

They're so stupid that they can't even communicate effectively to the rest of us about what they're protesting for and what they're trying to achieve which makes their 'protest' pointless. What is it supposed to achieve if no one really knows what it's about. If it wasn't so disgusting and embarrassing it would be laughable. It's amazing that anyone can be that dumb but with any luck they'll set fire to themselves soon.

Just have to keep in mind the fact that there are over 69 million people in the UK and the overwhelming majority of us think they are scumbags.

Lampzade · 02/08/2024 23:48

End of

Wanting their country back. Don't make me laugh. They wouldn't have a bloody clue about the history of "their country"

They are imbeciles with the thought capacity of a rock.

Spot on, I am not going out tomorrow (Nottingham) as it is all set to kick off here and town is all but shut down in anticipation of trouble

Wishfulthinking1977 · 02/08/2024 23:51

Unfortunately starmers speech apparently stoked a massive fire! The original peaceful protest did get hijacked but his comments and 'threats' were construed as causing a division and has spread throughout social media calling for a 'stand against a police state' I'm certainly not agreeing with what's going on but this is what I'm seeing and from what I am seeing/reading it's going to get alot worse 😔

Which peaceful protest?
The one in Southport against a Mosque - what were they protesting about?

The thugs have used the tragic death of 3 young girls to riot. I hope the full force of the law is applied to them.

You have that wrong. Everything these people do is on them. They are criminals. They aren’t heroes or the oppressed. They actually oppress their own fellow citizens whom they clearly despise, because unlike the rest of us who can use words, they want us to be scared to death by their violence. They are trashing our country.
