to think these people in Sunderland are not "protesting".

They are not protestors. They are not protesting. They are common or garden thugs and criminals who are causing criminal damage, setting police offices on fire and attacking police officers.

Total scumbags.

Interesting in what way?

L1ttledrummergirl · 03/08/2024 13:25

What a crock of shit.

Nothing can justify a bunch of rampant thugs destroying property.

At least no one can ever deny that there is a racism problem in the UK.
(Which I used to read on here a lot)

England. These are English racist thugs rioting in England. Not happening in other UK countries, yet anyway.

Reminds me of the 2011 riots across the UK.

Also England. Very annoying for folk from other UK countries when this behaviour is described as British. Don't tar us all with the same brush please. England voted us out of the EU. England voted in Reform MP's, no other UK countries.

Yes, England. Scotland, for example, in most places is extremely egalitarian.

TheWernethWife · 03/08/2024 13:37

I'd tear gas the racist twats

Is it immigration or a certain kind of immigration they are concerned about?

I am an immigrant, are they concerned about me?

We have a hotel for asylum seekers nearby too, riots broke out the other day there, what a nice way to express your concerns.

Presumably if people do not want asylum seekers to be put up in hotels for months or years on end, they are fully supportive of the new governments efforts to speed up asylum decisions?

ADHDHDHDHD · 03/08/2024 13:56

It ain't 'people' protesting. It's grown men having a violent tantrum.
Police should put in a curfew for all males over 16 years old after 6pm.
Then water cannon any men in groups after that.
Won't be rioting then, will they eh?

Watched another vid on tik tok. Some guy was asked what he was protesting. He said something like "listen right, we have no problem with mosques being built over here, as long as we can build mosques in Mecca". So it seems that that's what this whole thing is about. Got it. Makes sense 🙄

And this is a snapshot of their clever thinking 🤔

How they manage to stay alive is an absolute miracle.

Choochoo21 · 03/08/2024 14:14

It’s funny how it’s 99% of white males.

Where are all the females.
Or people of different races who also live in this country.

Or is it only white males who can be negatively affected by these killings or immigration.

No they’re not. Racist opinions, for example, are not.

They need to shut the bloody pubs. Most Sunderland pubs locked their doors, last night but apparently some were still open and full of people treating it all like sport. An eyewitness report said the whole area stunk of lager.

MsJinks · 03/08/2024 14:24

Belfast, Nottingham and Manchester all emulating Liverpool and standing up to the rioters. Small signs of hope. And hopefully this means there will be a lot less violence and destruction than seen elsewhere. Though obviously nice to have the protest in Nottingham held right by the summer beach for the kids - great to stop kids getting out and about altogether in many cities in probably the best weather they'll get over the summer holidays.

Public chanting in support of a regime - the Houthis - that urges death to Jews seems to be tolerated.

PickAChew · 03/08/2024 14:44

Chanting and trashing a city/town centre are not the same thing.

Counter protests planned for Newcastle, next weekend, too. Apparently there's a pre-season friendly match on that day, too.

Assume he meant to say ''As long as we can build churches in Mecca''
What a daft man.
There are Gurdwaras here, and Russian orthodox Churches, but it seems to be Mosques who get the racists frothing.

As we are aware, the murderer of the little girls isn't even Muslim.
He looked to be a well brought up child in earlier images of him, neatly pressed school uniform, even featuring in a Dr Who advert.

No one could have foreseen this.

His race isn't relevant.

He is a male who clearly has serious mental health problems, as no sane person would do this to small children.

His parents probably didn't even arrive by ''small boat''.

The poster said that democracies don’t tolerate racism. Which is generally true, but overlooks at least one embarrassing exception in the case of the UK.

That’s an interesting point about the impact of an extra 500 men, and the imbalance that causes. As you say, anyone who dislikes it is called a racist.

It is I think important to remember that slowly processing asylum applications was a political decision made by the last government. If instead they had empowered the Home Office to get on with the processing, then those asylum seekers would have had their claims accepted or rejected and would be able to move on with their lives, and would therefore not be hanging around with nothing to do.

AlviarinAesSedai · 03/08/2024 15:04

I haven’t read the whole thread but well done to all the people who went and cleaned the area this morning.
Fire Station post is quite uplifting. Loads of people coming to clean.

Last night I posted that I was so upset and angry and I wanted to do something. Today I went to Leeds City centre and stood with the anti-racism protestors against the racist thugs. We were literally facing them off and it felt incredibly empowering.
Yesterday I felt hopeless but today I saw the anti-racism crowd outnumbered the racists by about 4:1. It gave me so, so much hope.
I was surprised and disappointed to see the racist crowd comprised of about 20% women.
In the end we drove away the racists, the police following their every move. It felt like a small victory. Of course, I realise they'll carry on all day becoming increasingly violent, probably set fire to a mosque or something so there's not really much to celebrate. But for a couple of hours today we overpowered them by sheer numbers and volume and it felt good. The hate on their faces was horrible to see.

Well done Sally, the response from the residents of Sunderland today and actions from people like yourself, have really warmed my heart.

Also, if anyone is feeling down and has access to Twitter, go to the LBC page and listen to the call from Darren, we need more Darrens around.
