to think these people in Sunderland are not "protesting".

They are not protestors. They are not protesting. They are common or garden thugs and criminals who are causing criminal damage, setting police offices on fire and attacking police officers.

Total scumbags.

Starmer is using a trafficking policy that looks likely to fail

If he cannot do as he pledged this rioting will increase. He’s at risk of losing control of the situation

Rwanda was, of course, such a resounding success. No government can be judged as “likely to fail” after 29 days in office. Admittedly Truss gave it a really good shot.

Trying to get a grip on what is actually happening in the UK, when viewed from France is very difficult. There are layers of lies being told and so much is taken out of context over the last 8 years (since the Brexit referendum mainly) and of course the Tory supporters like Clav try to drag up anything relevant or not from way before Brexit if a Labour MP said or did anything noteable. YES Blair made a mistake in not using the brake on EU Freedom of Movement way back when (Like Germany and other countries DID do) but EU immigration was never a problem but larger scale immigration from other countries, some of which have rather different religion and politics, certainly family expêctations.

Who are the extreme left that posters say are trying to shut down debate?

Is she being charged?

Not as far as I know (yet)

The woman denied being the first to post the name, saying that she copied it from a fellow lockdown sceptic’s account and that Twitter/X’s time and date stamps could not be trusted.
She said: “Yes I did [post it] … It was a spur of the moment ridiculous thing to do, which has literally destroyed me. It was just a mistake. I did a really stupid stupid thing, I copied and pasted it from what I saw, and I added the line ‘if this is true’.”
She added: “I think it is very easy for a situation which is very emotional and very heightened, so you can end up believing what you’re seeing. People should be very careful about putting what they think is true without doing the research.”

Yeah. I reckon she’s just realized how much trouble she is in. Good luck

I hope she’s charged.

Any of those mindless, racist yobs wearing a t.shirt with the pictures of those murdered little girls are lower than a snakes belly!
They should be bloody horsewhipped!
There's plenty of things that a lot of us are unhappy with, but we don't go out rioting, damaging others property and committing arson.
I can't imagine how frightening it must be for the law abiding citizens of the towns affected by these mobs of hooligans.

I simply can't imagine the horror of losing your child and in the same week seeing a thug wearing a t shirt of their image, whilst bricking a mosque or burning a car.

ContactNightmare · 03/08/2024 12:05

Btw the inclusion of “if this is true” is pretty suspect. But it does show what is posted online is not anonymous, and people who are driving this agenda are not free to assume that their internet use will not be checked. It can be.

Rummly · 03/08/2024 12:06

I believe there’s a former Olympic hopeful available for this.

Well if she is, it will be public very quickly. Though given the detail in the article she can be traced easily.

FFS.

"From a fellow lockdown skeptics account".

Now we're going to have conflation of any questioning of how the pandemic was handled with far right agitation. Thanks lady.

Bangs head on wall

Wrt to shutting down debate. Just seen a video on tik tok, a crowd of English patriot women with cans of strongbow in their hands waving union jack flags. When asked by the reporter what they were there for, they said "to stand up for british values, to have our voices heard".

When asked "what values" they couldn't answer properly, just said something about "it's not about being racists".

When probed further, one replied "our government spend 56 million on housing illegal immigrants. As for the legal ones, our schools are crumbling, our hospitals are crumbling" and then her mate chips in "it's like the Titanic. The Titanic had far too many people on it and that's why it sunk. That's what's happening to our country. Far too many people and it's sinking"

They weren't shut down, they expressed their views. That last part was entirely fabricated nonsense.

ContactNightmare · 03/08/2024 12:10

Yes the idea is that since the rest of us don’t agree, it’s appropriate to have violence.

Summerflames · 03/08/2024 12:12

Watched another vid on tik tok. Some guy was asked what he was protesting. He said something like "listen right, we have no problem with mosques being built over here, as long as we can build mosques in Mecca". So it seems that that's what this whole thing is about. Got it. Makes sense 🙄

Why would Mecca need more mosques? What a strange chap.

Shush, how dare you shut down reasoned debate with your sensible questions ?🤣 (sarcasm btw, not genuine).

Point is that what people suggest we should be debating. When there's just no intelligence in anything these "protestors" say.

Btw the language “if this is true” is an attempt to defend a charge of incitement. You will see racist posters on Mumsnet using it to circulate racist rumours. There is at least one poster on AIBU who does this, they are here to do the UK damage imo.

BadPennyReturns · 03/08/2024 12:18

We've been living in a society with certain groups that throws tantrums for a few years now.

Quite so.

I do think it would be quite funny to put Mr Beerbelly Swastika in front of a camera and ask for his views.

The best thing to do with bad people (apart from arrest them) is to laugh at them.

Is it immigration or a certain kind of immigration they are concerned about?

I am an immigrant, are they concerned about me?

We have a hotel for asylum seekers nearby too, riots broke out the other day there, what a nice way to express your concerns.
