to think these people in Sunderland are not "protesting".

They are not protestors. They are not protesting. They are common or garden thugs and criminals who are causing criminal damage, setting police offices on fire and attacking police officers.

Total scumbags.

And then went on to make a comparison to Just Stop Oil.

When have Just Stop Oil thrown bricks at the police?

If you didnt mean the post to sound the way it did, perhaaps ask MNHQ to take it down.

Why?

My post condemns the t-shirts. It just makes a perfectly valid other point as well.

I'm not condoning violent protests.

Just trying to understand the frustrations of people thoughts and feelings on unrestricted immigration by single men of a certain age/religion and being ignored

So why can't they use their voices instead of their weapons to make their point? It would help make sense as to which point they are being ignored on. I'm working class, don't exactly live in the most desirable of areas and am not well off. I feel I've been ignored by the tory party for the last 14 years and some of their policies have made my blood boil. Do we all get to claim victim status and cause riots just because we don't like things? Is that what we've come to? Fucking animals?

Covert racism can be so so subtle its often hard to pin point. It's sometimes more of a feeling than something you can define.
My oldest DS probably thinks he has never experienced racism. But we moved house in part because covert, middle class racism was so prolific. I'm talking him being overlooked in queues at the summer fair, sitting the 3 black/brown kids together for everything, asking if his (extraordinarily ordinary) behavior was "cultural".

Oh god that’s so awful, I’m sorry 😔

I really hope he didn’t notice it and it’s brilliant that you’ve taken the decision to act upon it and move from the situation. You obviously shouldn’t have to but there’s nothing to be gained from sticking it out just to prove a point when your DC is the subject of such despicable and unwarranted behaviour.

Shame on those hateful people.

dottiehens · 03/08/2024 09:44

Yes, violence is wrong and never ok under any circumstances. I remembered the riots in the US. Protesting also should be called out and people arrested when you see messages to murder people. Even the language I find in this threat is very aggressive. 🤔 Do not forget is never ok. Never!

I think that the vast majority don’t have any political motives - it’s literally something to fill their dead-end lives with which will cause them a bit of excitement, fuelled with drugs and alcohol. The euros are over. It’s the summer. The fact an 11 yr old was arrested for setting fire to a police vehicle 🤦🏼‍♀️ Either he’s been encouraged to do that by older animals who think he might get away with it bc of his age, or he’s just copying familiar-adult behaviour and is proof that the next generation are already being ‘tutored’ in the art of racism and senseless violence by these fucking neanderthals. They’d be out there with pitchforks and burning torches back in the day 🙄

Update from Sunderland

There was a brilliant turnout this morning in the city centre, lots of individuals and families came down with sweeping brushes, bin bags etc. However the council have worked tirelessly throughout the night and there was very little to do. With the exception of a few broken windows and two areas of fire damage the area looks immaculate. Well done to the real people of Sunderland.

This... and you know what's really angering me, somehow this is going to get the Tories off the hook. This is all Labour's fault apparently... they've been in power for 4 weeks! The 14 years of Tory neglect is all forgotten about, Kemi Badenoch has seen her opportunity and is taking full advantage of it this morning.

Why weren't these people out on the streets when the previous government was sending people to food banks instead of taking care of them? Why weren't they rioting when they spent millions buying useless PPE from their mates? Why weren't they burning down public buildings when the then PM blatantly lied to parliament and to the country? No, didn't see any of them then. Didn't hear a peep.

He's only 8 now so he's still mostly oblivious. Interestingly the only other black child in his class also moved a few months later.
Although his best friend spends a lot of time at our house, he has Sudanese heritage (very tall, very dark) and it's been quite upsetting for all of us to see how differently he is treated vs my mixed race sons. It's unfathomable to me that anyone can hate small children. It's absolutely everywhere and there's no escaping. Little wonder "multi culturalism has failed" when grown adults pick on kids for sport.

Boredmum24 · 03/08/2024 09:53

Yeah my daughter and her friend went and said there was very little left to clear up. So sad and upset. My elderly mother was warned not to go to Sunderland hospital to visit my dad last night as it was dangerous

So why can't they use their voices instead of their weapons to make their point

Because they are too unintelligent, ignorant and inarticulate to express exactly what it is they are "protesting" against? These are people who would struggle to string a coherent sentence together, they just rant about foreigners, or migrants, or muslims, or jews, or tories, or the police...

They do not have a point to make. They just want a rammy.

David Cameron confirmed that he will pull Britain out of the single market if there is a vote to leave the European Union at the upcoming referendum.

The prime minister said: “What the British public will be voting for is to leave the EU and leave the single market.”

‘I’ll pull UK out of the single market after Brexit’

Leaving the EU would be like planting ‘a bomb’ under the British economy, the prime minister warns.

Anyone who thinks this violence is about anything other than race just needs to look at the response of the far right to the murder of Daniel Anjorin.

A Black british child killed by a white immgrant and not a peep from the far right but the second they hear about an attack by a non-white offender they're out in force destroying towns.

If you find yourself trying to make excuses for these scumbags or justifying their behaviour then you're every bit as bad as them and I want my country back from the likes of you!

Exactly

The fact that they are unintelligent, ignorant and inarticulate is a massive failure of society. But they should still be able to not resort to violence to make a point.

I've seen one guy on fb yesterday saying violence is the only solution. And a woman I know who has 4 young daughters openly agreeing with him saying something like "people sit on there settees and talk about these things but never take any action". Ermm, what does she think is happening right now??

Fair enough, and thanks for pointing that out. But my broader point to the pp I was replying to remains. The government did exactly what it said it would. We left the EU as definitively as it was possible to do. So it is not correct to say that the government did not do what it promised it would when it invited us to vote in the Referendum.

Why do people keep saying they are not being "listened to"? We literally just had an election. Too bad if you didn't get the outcome you wanted, but that's life. Protest peacefully, petition, engage your mp. We all have the same voice. They can't start smashing stuff up and scaring people if they don't get exactly their way. No buts about it.

They were supposedly’ not listened to’ which is why we had a referendum and as a result had Brexit which has proved to be an utter and complete failure
We have just had a democratic election in which people had the right to vote. The Labour party won which is this is what the majority of people want
Wouldn’t be surprised if many of those racists thugs marauding in Sunderland failed to vote

Any of those mindless, racist yobs wearing a t.shirt with the pictures of those murdered little girls are lower than a snakes belly!
They should be bloody horsewhipped!
There's plenty of things that a lot of us are unhappy with, but we don't go out rioting, damaging others property and committing arson.
I can't imagine how frightening it must be for the law abiding citizens of the towns affected by these mobs of hooligans.

The photo I have seen of the amazing job that Sunderland Council and the local community have done of cleaning up seems to show that whatever was to the left of the police office was more badly damaged.
