I can't find the original thread posted here, so sorry to start another. For anyone interested the XY boxer, Imane Khelif is to box tomorrow: Live on Eurosport from 11:20 versus Angela CARINI from Italy. It beggars belief that a genetically determined male gets to box the shit out of a female.

The world has gone completely mad. A transwoman can never be a woman. If they want to compete they need their own category.

The women should all withdraw, it's not safe, and it makes a big statement.

BlueLimeRun · 01/08/2024 16:32

It’s sickening - the poor Italian boxer.

It's not the easy. They've worked their whole lives for this. The IOC need to step up and take responsibility for the shit show they've created.

It is most likely that these are XY (men) with DSDs - difference of Sexual Development that were recorded as female at birth due to ambiguous primary sex characteristics. These conditions used to be referred to as intersex but this term is out dated as we now know that there are male dsds and female dsds and everyone is either one sex or the other, no one produces both sperm and eggs.
At some point during puberty it would have become obvious that they were not developing as expected (they would never have periods, depending on how much testosterone they produced and how their bodies responded to it they may have developed signs of male puberty). This should have triggered investigations that would almost certainly lead to a diagnosis.
Unfortunately there are unscrupulous people who will seak out these cases and push them towards elite sport as they are registered female but with male biological advantage.
The personal nature of the issue means that information is not publicly available and these athletes are referred to as women with naturally high testosterone (see Caster Semenya who was one of three athletes with male DSDs to take an 800m medal in the same race)..

I beggars belief in 2024 that anyone, of either sex, gets to beat the shit out of each other.

I'm so pleased you've posted, I read the other thread - all 1000 posts of it - and wondered to myself where are the usual posters who pop up on FWR to scold women for being unkind? The ones who think males can turn into females and we should all budge up and accept it?

So, tell me, what do you think about males in female sports? Especially contact sports such as boxing?

Lochroy · 01/08/2024 16:43

Is Khelif a male with DSD or trans?

Male DSD, it seems. Certainly not female.

Lochroy · 01/08/2024 16:46

@NonPlayerCharacter I agree, just wondering on what basis they were regarded as "female".

I don't quite understand this story. Are they men who have pretended to be women in order to further their careers, or are they intersex? Or do we not know because the evidence released publicly doesn't tell us?

There's no such thing as intersex. "Intersex" people are all male or female. They just have a variation of development along the sex pathway.

It can occasionally mean their sex is mistaken, but the very fact that it's possible to get sex wrong means it exists...and if primary sexual characteristics are ambiguous, there are further markers that can determine sex without error.

It's too much to ask after all they've sacrificed and done to get there, plus they would be likely to lose all their sponsorship for being hateful bigots...and the IOC is so corrupt and misogynistic, it would name the male boxers as the winners and say the women freely chose not to compete.

A separate category isn't needed. As has been suggested before by many people, the men's category should not exist. The men's category should just be an "open" category, where any human on earth is allowed to compete. The women's category should continue to exist.
