To think he shouldn't have been paid in full while off long term. As its more like being self employed.
But mainly cos it was 475k upwards of our TV licence money!
Another example is when a famous radio presenter s decide to go off for an extended break to film another show or something. Surely they don't get normal pay when they have extra weeks off not on air!!

I actually think we are on a sticky wicket here. Not condoning his actions- very foolish and sleazy - but how many men could fall foul of receiving seriously dodgy stuff sent by mates 'As a laugh ' - even when they haven't asked for it

Category A including age 7 to 9 have you thought about that

I’m sure the legal system can deal with this angle too

Aquarius1234 · 01/08/2024 23:59

They will always keep silent for months and months about any bad behaviour of TV stars. Like you do bad stuff but get protected and money thrown at you.
Anyone thinking things have changed since are wrong.

It was a moment in history. Sorry if you don't get it.

Yes, I get it was a moment in history but I don’t understand how shallow or weak-minded people are that they laud an over privileged family with dubious morals who care very little about others and are so affected by their passing to the extent they remember which journalist announced it. Honestly, get a grip - they do not give a shit about you.

Aquarius1234 · 02/08/2024 00:00

I stupidly thought the BBC had changed.. nope still cover up.

Not defending what he has done by the way but people are assuming that it's far worse than it has been proved to be. I'm sure there is more to the story of course but we will never know. It's a disgusting world to have been involved in. People comparing him with Sutcliffe and Saville are just ridiculous.

And @Crikeyalmighty

It is as bad as people are saying.
I will repeat what I said earlier on this thread - he didn’t receive one image, block the sender and report it to the police.
He received over 30 images of child sex abuse over several months. He never once reported the images or the person who sent it to him.
Paedophiles do not send these images on a whim - they seek out and enter conversations with like minded people and then start sending messages.

As a couple of experts have explained when they have seen these videos, the abiding memory is of children begging, pleading and screaming as they are being abused.

It is absolutely as bad, perhaps even worse, than is being portrayed. Huw Edwards is complicit in the abuse of these children.

I wonder what ever happened to that little 7 year old boy that was in the moving image?

I wish I could give more than one like to your post, @noworklifebalance ; the "it's not as bad as all that" posters make me sick to my stomach.

They are probably disgusting human beings themselves.

WTF? “Foolish and sleazy”? Is that all it is? Are you just trying to be provocative, or are your morals really so low?

Doubleender · 02/08/2024 00:22

In my yoof I saw all manner of dodgy videos shared round the farming boys but nothing of a CP nature. HE has obvs moving in some nasty circles to receive such stuff.

Are they no men or women that don't look regularly at dodgy stuff.

It's sad that the only entertainment HE had in his life was this.

He was clearly moving in circles that have the same depraved mind as he does. These kind find each other eventually and it becomes their 'safe space ' to share their vile fantasies.

Aquarius1234 · 02/08/2024 00:25

It was in reference to PP saying that lads share all sorts of filth, which they do. But nobody normal gets their hands on or shares stuff like HE did unless they actively seek it out.

PreciousMahoney · 02/08/2024 00:37

AnnieSnap · 01/08/2024 22:22

But legally someone can’t be made to do that. If it was someone on £20,000 a year, it would all have been spent and rules/laws don’t vary according to the amount of money. Since he was prepared to contribute to the sexual abuse of 7-year-old children by receiving, then sharing stills and videos of their abuse, we can’t expect any moral fibre that might lead to him repaying part of his salary.

Well yes exactly, my follow up post said exactly that

I've never expected them to give a shit about me. I think it's shallow to not understand what a big historical event it was. I value history and I am emotionally intelligent!

Totally agree. Not to mention the fact that he was only exposed, because the Police were investigating some other pervert and found the content relating to 9HE stuff. Absolute deviants 👊

It's a bit more than 'foolish or sleazy'. He received indecent images of young children. He didn't go to the police. Disgusting.

Well no. Allegedly, there has been more belligerent proactive behaviour going on for years BEFORE the incident concerning the 17 year old. He has attempted to harass and solicit other members of the public and there may be more allegations concerning his conduct with BBC staff. The Sun has allegedly kept a lid on much more.

I know Huw Edwards regularly groomed and solicited young people - I've seen the evidence

THE shocking truth is Huw Edwards has for years used his BBC status to sexually harass and groom younger colleagues and fans, including teenagers.Night after...

He was suspended awaiting review, he could well have been found not guilty so on that basis he should have been paid imo.

Yes this. The BBC had a duty of care to him and couldn’t just make a knee jerk decision. Plus they didn’t know what the charges involved, only the category of offence. Being charged with an offence is not the same as being found guilty of an offence. They are now looking at ways of recouping some of the cash. Very difficult situation for the BBC.
