Am I the only one to feel abit sorry for the mother of his son?

They were in a relationship until Adam went on Strictly and started a relationship with Gordon Ramsays daughter. He obvioulsy got caught up in the celebrity thing.
He know has got a tattoo of hollys name and talking of engagement. Whats the rush?

Also when the camera went to Adam and his family it was Holly who was there in the forefront with Adams mum and George etc.
I suppose Im being unreasonable, she is Adams girlfriend now.
How does the ex feel though seeing all this and knowing he had his head turned because he went on Strictly etc, and having to watch Holly with her son?

I thought this may have been a post about how different he is compared to the last time we saw him (I couldn’t see this was an AIBU post when I clicked on it).

He seems so much more at peace with everything, and generally much calmer. It was so lovely to see. I thought he seemed somewhat arrogant previously.

Tbh I didn't know anything about Adam Peaty apart from the fact he is a swimmer. Then this morning I heard an interview with his Mum on the Today programme in which his son George was mentioned. So I googled who his wife/ partner was and found who his current girlfriend is and how they met. I have never seen, and am not interested in seeing, Strictly come dancing , but everything I've heard about it , including how many relationships have been affected by it, has been bad.

My comment about people ditching existing relationships for celebrity ones was more a general observation. And it is how I have always felt, and still do, as a general rule. But if the mother of Adam Peaty's son is a big enough person to be happy for him then I am pleased.

He has had some mental health difficulties in the past, but clearly has done very well indeed to overcome them and win the silver!

Not a Strictly curse although all break-ups get tied to it.
He will have known Tilly from his series and cast following each other from that.
Gordon was in the audience a few times. Holly may have been.
However, the cracks appeared following the AT with Katya and near-kiss acting.
Eiri felt disrespected and was honest about that.
I admire her because she got some flak for that iirc when she was at home viewing, looking after their son at the time.
When they split the following year (August 2022) he said he'd let her down. Her statement on social media was gracious and elegant at that time too.
Rumours of Adam and Holly came about when they started liking each other's posts in November 2022. They confirmed their relationship May/June the following year.
Adam didn't do the tour in 2022. Tilly did.
You meet people through work, through friends of friends, through social media.
There isn't always an overlap and even if there's an initial attraction, it's not always acted upon.
Would I feel resentful? I'd feel sad but we all know on here, the pressure having a baby has on a couple, let alone a partner away from home/travelling/training a lot. I hope she has already found or finds the happiness she deserves.

If you know her then ask her. If you don't, then this is all a bit weird.

Why should he not be able to be in a new relationship just because he had a failed one that resulted in a child being born.

what do you expect him to do, never move on or be happy or experience love again just because he’s had a child?

I'm sure it's already been pointed out but it was a different daughter of Gordon Ramsay on Strictly - that was Tilly, he's going out with Holly

It was lovely his son was there and his ex clearly is fine with it all

There's a lot of projection here isnt there? Assuming that she must want to be with him.

For all you know, whatever she may say publicly or politely, she could be delighted to be shot of the self-obsessed man child whose existance takes priority over everyone else in the family that is typical of athletes and D-list "celebs".

I'd rather be able to do what I want than have to be dragged every few months to sit in the hot,sweaty chlorinated stand of a pool to watch a man at work.

Actually I was wondering about this when I was watching last night. Surely getting his tattoos did affect his ability to swim? I thought there were rules around how long to stay out of submerged water when getting a new tattoo? Like trying to keep it out of submerged water for weeks?

Led me to think where on earth he has found the time to build up so many tattoos and keep up a training schedule?

girlfriend44 Saying hes "just a swimmer" is like saying Andy Murray plays a bit of Tennis every now and then! FFS the mans part Human part Dolphin! He is from a modest background and his Mother got up at 4 am to take him to training! As he said he could have ended up drinking with his mates ,Instead he is a national treasure .Why cant he have Tattoos either ? His body his choice !

He went off the rails and totally lost it for a big chunk of time - that's when he could have had the tattoos done

And agree his ex may well be delighted to be shot of him and have anew boyfriend too. They were ridiculously young when thy got together and tried to make an accidental pregnancy work. Hardly anyone would have succeeded whoever they were

Pook swimmers take a few weeks off training after big meets so they'll be done then.

Some will take 2-3 months off after the olympics/ paralympics.

Training is done is phases and cycles.

From his days in strictly, it was obvious Adam relationship with his ex was failing. She got pregnant very quickly after they met, any woman deciding to keep a baby in those circumstances are aware they could end up a single mum.

He also broke his foot at some point between the last olympics and this one, so he could have got at the tats done while he was in plaster.

I don’t follow swimming (or any sport) but I understand he’s had or currently has mental health issues. I also read one post here that mentioned when he was struggling to get out of bed.

Honestly, anyone who gets through all that deserves so much praise. I’m glad MH issues are spoken about so much more now, and if people like him add to that (famous, speaking publicly) then all the better.

And I love seeing ex’s speaking well of each other. Why not? They liked each other well enough to have a relationship. To still like each other after that has ended is brilliant.

And yes, you can’t swim for some time after getting a tattoo so I imagine the minute he thought he wouldn’t be swimming any more that was the first thing he went for!

It’s well documented that his mental health and alcohol battles meant that he didn’t get in the pool for a long time… he says he could barely make it out of bed. I doubt he took a few months off swimming just for his tattoos to heal.
And even if he did… even more kudos to him for his amazing success in the pool, if he could manage that with taking regular tattoo breaks!

I wish the people in my life who are co-parenting could be as generous to their parents of their children as these two seem to be!

All athletes have scheduled breaks - he will time getting the tattoos with his scheduled breaks I imagine.

Ah it all makes sense now - why Gordon Ramsey was interviewing him on the bbc tribute thing yesterday and why the mother of the child wasn’t playing tribute as was his mum dad and other relatives.

He's had a lot of the tats for a number of years, they all have special meanings. I believe he got the big lion done after 2016 Olympics. I think he has the Olympic rings somewhere, and Poseidon.
He was staying in the same hotel in Turkey as us with some of his entourage a few years back. He was so lovely, teaching the kids how to dive into the pool properly.

I think his ex has been very dignified, but I find the way the new girlfriend has acted with his child insensitive. She’s not his mum and they’ve only been going out a year so hardly his step-mum even.

I would hate another woman parading my young child around like that as if he’s hers!

How was she parading him? He was sitting with her and his family. Would you rather if your tiny child asked their dad's girlfriend for a cuddle that she pushed him away?

For all we know, the ex has happily given her blessing to it all. She has obviously given permission for the child to be in Paris, and it’s fairly obvious Adam himself couldn’t be caring for the child while he was swimming, so I assume she knew the child would be there with the new girlfriend.

Thank you everyone for answering my ponderings around tattoo timings! My DH was just telling me to shut up and concentrate on the swimming and not the fit bodies when asking him last night 😂
