To want to go stay in a hotel all alone....

LolaTheShowgirl · 13/04/2008 15:47

....on my day off next week just to have some time to myself with zero interruptions and stock up on magazines and turn my mobile phone off? Do I sound like a strange loser wanting to do this all alone?

Sounds fab to me

oranges · 13/04/2008 15:50

I've been dreaming of doing this......

mishmash · 13/04/2008 15:52

Go for it

LoveMyGirls · 13/04/2008 15:54

I'd probably be bored after an hour or so if i went all on my own but i'm not the type of person who likes being alone for long really.

Go for it if that's what you really want to do

mellyonion · 13/04/2008 15:56

Sounds like my idea of a dream evening. But then I crave solitude and dh thinks I'm weird.

jingleyjen · 13/04/2008 16:02

I think it sounds lovely...
I would take a book, a bottle of wine and bubble bath and spend the whole evening in the bath.. fall into bed and sleep till someone else had cooked my breakfast.. Wonderful..

ellideb · 13/04/2008 16:05

Sounds like a great idea people do it (out of necessity) when they are away on business trips so nobody would think you weird being by yourself. I can totally see why, it's like 'stop the world I want to get off!' Why don't you book some nice pampering treatments whilst you're at it? Really spoil yourself then you can get 'back on' when you're fully recharged!

popsycal · 13/04/2008 16:07

Ooooh. I promised myself that I would do this once ds2 was sleeping through......3 years on and I am still bloody waiting!
Do it!

Bumperlicious · 13/04/2008 16:07

Do it, but you might find that you never want to go back home

TsarChasm · 13/04/2008 16:09

Sounds like bliss. If it has a beauty treatment room book a massage too

LIZS · 13/04/2008 16:09

you can afford it ? sounds fun if so

LolaTheShowgirl · 13/04/2008 16:17

Thanks for the encouragement ladies I will be sooo relaxed! I don't think the hotel has a beauty salon but may book myself on to see a show in the city. I'm not even in work til very late the next day so I can enjoy my lesuirely breakfast and an un-rushed trip back home too

Sounds bliss. You want to speak to Surfermum, I know she did this a few weeks ago.

minkulus · 13/04/2008 16:29

OOOH bliss! I will go for you and report back if you want......hard job but I'm willing in the name of science etc

minkulus · 13/04/2008 16:30

P.S I really don't want to hear the 'gory' details.....I am SO jealous! !!

mosschops30 · 13/04/2008 16:34

Lola YANBU

I recently went away to a 5* hotel for a whole week child free with no interruption and it was the best thing i ever did.

Go and enjoy

lucyellensmum · 13/04/2008 17:10

DO IT........... I was just thinking, oh i might be bored, but then i am now running my bath whilst DP looks after DD (he said go and have a QUICK bath, i want to have one later ) So that means, instead of long soak with book and glasss of wine and night clothes and bed, it means a rushed clean up before i need to do the veggies - grrrr. Oh yes, let me know when your room is free - a break from me??? Where do i sign?

Sallyre · 13/04/2008 17:15

Not at all. I've just booked a week away from my children! I'm going to America to see my sister and not taking the boys - DS1 is 3 and DS2 is 1. I've found the last year really hard - having 2 children, lots of illness and stress. So I need some ME time. And I refuse to feel guilty! Will sleep a lot, have my hair done, go shopping, drink cocktails and come back a refreshed yummy mummy. Good for everyone - so go for it!

God no!

That's my ideal fantasy day.

I've done it, too.

It's blissful and I highly recommend it for recharging your batteries.

glitterandsparkle · 13/04/2008 17:50

my dh has paid for me to go away for a few days for the last 3 years. go to big hotel with brekkie and evening meal inc, salon, sauna, steam room and indoor pool. also have an entertainment room if you get bored. i love it, always come back refreshed and ready to face world again. DO IT, DO IT, DO IT

sparklesandnowinefor9months · 13/04/2008 18:04
