To want to go stay in a hotel all alone....

....on my day off next week just to have some time to myself with zero interruptions and stock up on magazines and turn my mobile phone off? Do I sound like a strange loser wanting to do this all alone?

I spend enough time on my own with ds but time completely alone, in a hotel, with magazines. MMMM bliss! As long as there was a decent English breakfast served in the morning! Just make sure you get a dairy milk to curl up with at night. Sounds lovely. My friend stays in a hotel a couple of times a year on her own just to get a break from her fiancees 4 kids! Great idea, go for it!

jasper · 13/04/2008 19:02

what a great idea.
If you can swing it, go for it!

MrsDanvers · 13/04/2008 22:02

What a great idea. Maybe you could do it on a regular basis 2 or 3 times a year. Think you've started a new trend on MN. watch out- you'll probably start to bump into lots of MNers doing the same!

KatyMac · 13/04/2008 22:04

I have this when DH & DD g to competitions - silence & I enjoy it for an hour or so - then I get edgy and stressed and start doing accounts or work and stuff

purpleduck · 13/04/2008 22:10

sounds lovely
Maybe mnhq can negotiate a special "stressed mums discount...?"

DforDiva · 13/04/2008 22:11

i dream off this too, havent been on my own for long enough for more than 3hours

3Ddonut · 13/04/2008 22:13

This is totally my fantasy, I would never be able to afford it, and would have to sort the house out before I went and probably fret and feel guilty, but that's just me!! IN theory it seems great!!! Go for it!!! (I would given half a chance!)

lucyellensmum · 13/04/2008 22:16

Lola, does the hotel have internet access, i mean, that could potentially be a whole night without mumsnet

Rose99 · 13/04/2008 22:20

sounds totally wonderful and something I have thought of doing.

raisinbran · 13/04/2008 22:46

I've just had 3 nights in NY by myself and I could quite happily of managed a few more days.I spent 12 hours in a shopping mall, went to the cinema, theatre and had lots of spa treatments.

I had room service breakfast and went back to sleep after reading my book.

I felt rested. Until I came home and saw what state the house was in!

eidsvold · 13/04/2008 22:49

oh I am off at the end of August for a weekend to do some family research - by myself - so excited about being able to wake up when I want to, have a shower/go to loo/etc without being interrupted.

be the first time I left the dds other than to have dd2 and 3 - feels very strange but I am looking forward to it. Just a chance to recharge my batteries which have been running on empty for a long time.

stepfordwife · 13/04/2008 22:57

do it
enjoy
have done this several times myself and intend to do it again soon.

Tickle · 13/04/2008 23:01

Would LOVE to! But DH seems to have this crazy idea that we should do relaxing things 'as a family'

Have fun!

jasper · 13/04/2008 23:05

Tickle, that old chestnut. I get that one too. Last thing I can do as a family is relax

bluefox · 13/04/2008 23:08

YANBU I would love to do this, or spend a couple of days in a retreat!

wobbegong · 14/04/2008 10:52

yes yes yes that sounds like my idea of heaven

minster · 14/04/2008 13:30

YNBU

As soon as my son is weaned I'm going, on my own, to a hotel for the weekend. Lots of long baths & room service.

kamsmum · 14/04/2008 13:42

When my Lo's were babies I promised myself I would do this. A Travel Inn would be fine - as long as it was quiet and I could sleep! They are now 2 and 5 and I have still not done it.

Went to a swishy hotel with DH 2 weeks ago for our anniversary. I still woke up at 6am - how depressing!

You go for it! Spoil yourself!

claraquitetirednow · 14/04/2008 13:47

Ooooh I have to go on a course in July - two nights in a hotel all on my own and we don't even have to pay for it! DH will be doing the course first (it is to do with security in relation to our move overseas) and started off by saying "If I do the course and don't think it's worthwhile, then you don't have to go". What??!! The course could be on carpet weaving for all I care - two nights in a hotel, with room service and a swimming pool and full English the next morning......(not to mention no baby to get up to in the night, no toddler following me into the toilet) I am counting down the days!

WHen I'm there I'll probably just stress about how my DH is coping without me though

Bewilderbeast · 14/04/2008 14:00

Do it it sounds like heaven. Take some nice bubble bath and have a long uninterupted bath too
