Is It true labour are adding on a 20% VAT on private schools? Literally the first I’ve heard of it from MN - can’t work out if it’s real or a joke?

I heard they're going to charge VAT on the VAT payable on private school fees.

I missed those. Did they not gave a clear title? People are considering whether they can afford the VAT, or whether it's worth it anymore. Or they're trying to dispell the myth that schools have huge surplus cash to cover the VAT. If the government insists in spreading misinformation, people are going to take to the internet to fight back. If it's annoying you, just don't click on those threads.

Are you assuming my children are at state school? I said it literally directly affects me!

It will cost me personally £10k more a year.

@HauntedBungalow - how does taxing private education just like you tax every other service amount to communism?

It doesn't. They're being daft. Communists wouldn't allow private schools in the first place. However, it does make us the only country in Europe to tax educational services, which should make us pause for thought. If it's such a great idea, why isn't everybody else doing it?
