About time!

Applepencilplant · 21/07/2024 19:14

He’s a good and decent man. I think this is the right thing. Genuinely think he is one of the best. It’s sad he is just too old to continue.

FuzzyStripes · 21/07/2024 19:15

He had to.

Hard decision for him, without a doubt, but he has left it so late that Trump is very likely to win regardless now.

TheUsualChaos · 21/07/2024 19:15

He has been very stubborn but I'm glad common sense has finally prevailed. I wonder how he was persuaded.

Money… he was hemorrhaging donor support.

I think this too.

hby9628 · 21/07/2024 19:17

The right decision. Interesting times.

Errors · 21/07/2024 19:19

Who will replace him?

saltinesandcoffeecups · 21/07/2024 19:21

He just endorsed Harris.

If only he’d done it six months earlier. They could have got all the nominee tomfuckery out of the way long ago and be well underway with the presidential campaign. With only 4 months to go they’ve basically given it to Trump in a nice shiny box with a bow on top.

JennyForeigner · 21/07/2024 19:38

Something in my eye, a bit.

Well done Joe.

He is far from a good and decent man! He's a corrupt sex pest. Even his own daughter has questioned his very questionable behaviour

Not sure I agree. I think Biden had to stretch it out as far as he possibly could. The Democrats needed to know this is emergency stations. No in-fighting, no personal ambition. A good man is down, and now there is no time for anything but to pull together and stop Trump.

You're thinking of Trump.

Graceandflavours · 21/07/2024 19:45

Thank fuck for that

Justcallmebebes · 21/07/2024 19:46

JennyForeigner · 21/07/2024 19:41

You're thinking of Trump.

No. I'm talking about Biden. Hunter taking millions of dollars from Ukraine on the pretence of being an energy advisor, all endorsed by Biden

Biden's daughter recalling showers taken with her father when she was in her teens and much more

I have no time for Trump either, but let's not pretend Biden is some sort of saint because he's far from it

Waltdisnerd · 21/07/2024 19:48

This should of happened long ago!

TreeShrugger · 21/07/2024 19:48

It’s a shame it had to come to this, as he’s a very decent man and a committed public servant. They now need to rally around a candidate who can defeat Trump - for the good of the US and the World.

I agree with this, although reluctantly, as I wish it wasn’t true.

My view so far of Biden is that he’s a reputable and solid candidate. This is partly because of his experience and ability and the fact I think his policies were mostly good and partly because I’m against Trump and thought he could stand up to Trump.

Given the growing frequency of his memory lapses and gaffes over the last year or so, and the press reports about his behaviour in his private life, I’ve been thinking perhaps it would be best for him to step down. I say this from thinking it’s probably not in the USA’s best interests for him to be leader anymore and also because I don’t think he is capable of defeating Trump.

I wish the Democrats weren’t in the position they now find themselves in, where - to us, the public - it looks like they are scrabbling around for a suitable replacement candidate to Biden, but I wish them all the very best in choosing someone capable, competent and humane who can face Trump.

BallooningInTheSky · 21/07/2024 19:49

Any chance Michelle Obama would have a go?

I would love it if she could, but I’d imagine she’s probably seen the toll it’s taken on her husband, on her and their daughters and understandably concluded it’s not worth running. Obviously, I have no idea - I’m just a mildly curious British onlooker - but I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case.

She has repeatedly said no. She has no interest and hated Barak's time in the WH. Shame though

MayonnaiseOnMyChips · 21/07/2024 19:53

I thought this would come after his "covid" news.
About time too. Come on Kamala!!

BallooningInTheSky · 21/07/2024 19:58

Yes. I can also only imagine the amount of disgusting trolling M Obama would receive. She seems just so decent and sensible though.

OK false equivalence. Thank you for dropping by.
