Found out this week offspring got a u certificate for degree. Got good Alevels though - covid version, but went to good grammar school.Knew it existed, never heard of anyone that actually got a U. ABU to feel more worried than cross, which is how I feel and am struggling to think how I 'should' feel. Perhaps expectations managed by failing 2nd year, but believed it when told knuckled down and turned round. Thoughts?

Did he get a U as in an unclassified degree, or a U grade in his finals? An unclassified degree is still a degree, just not an honours degree.

A U just means he can’t continue that course at Nottingham. Provided he passed Second Year he could still transfer to another university (online of in person) and I’d probably recommend he study part time from home to ensure he gets a degree.

It’s not the end of the world. I failed my degree too but I’m now earning 6 figure in a highly qualified role and have several 1st class degrees and masters under my belt. It’s not the end of the world.

Can they do 3 modules next year to get the missing 60 credits from the same school department and get a degree with the subject of the school as the degree e.g. BA Hons Planning and Urban Studies.

I'd love to know what line of work you're into @Ozanj :)
