Posh accents on men are just awful

I’m talking Made in Chelsea type accents. For some reason there is a sex bias to this as they sound much better on females (wonder why this is).

I went to a private school in Berkshire so know my accent would potentially sound posh but to me (and most in the south) it is very bog standardly middle class.

Just curious if I’m the only who secretly thinks this? Got a voice note off of a guy I met on hinge and sadly the Pliny* accent killed the entire thing.

*plumy

Im not saying this to offend. I’m just curious why I recoil and if anyone experiences similar

This is just a personal opinion. I’m just putting it out as a random thought. If you’re going to take offence, then I think that’s a bit silly. Humans have irrational responses and I’m just sharing mine

@tuvamoodyson , not Estonia, he's an Old Estonian. Our alma mater in Eastern Berkshire, Eston College, where accents are plumy and Pliny is our role-model. Pliny Major, of course.

Despite catty aspersions, Moggy is not of feline heritage, but the Rees hints at there possibly being some blood from the wrong side of Offa's Dyke.

I find 'posh accent' very attractive on some men. I hate most British accents. 😬

@ShinyPebble32

[I] heard him speaking the other day and he was really posh - put me right off

It would have made me go weak at the knees! Still, no accounting for taste.

I think that disliking a particular accent is a bit weird. Is it more acceptable to dislike a posh accent than a Geordie one? If the OP had said she didn’t like men with Geordie accents, she would have been ripped apart.

It's just personal preference, which is fine. I dislike the Geordie accent. I'm not saying I hate all people who talk with one, I just don't like the accent. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Oh, no, I love it! But I'm a bit of a one for the dastardly lord of the manor types (in media/fiction only!). - Jason Issacs as Lucius Malfoy type of accent l, all sneery and condescending.
