Quotes to makes it aibu worthy but, I've ditched my husband and my young kids (8mnth + 3yr) tonight to go out for a couple of drinks tonight and feel like maybe I'm strange.

I mean I'll still be out even if the consensus is that it is strange, but does anyone without childcare just go out by themselves for a few a drinks every few weeks since they can't do it as a couple and they don't have a friendship group yet.

Fwiw we just moved to this area in February but I was a lone fish before then to tbf.

I've taken it upon myself to go to the theatre on my own. Just because I don't have anyone to go with at the time, doesn't mean I should miss out!

You never talk to the person next to you in the theatre anyway, so makes no difference.

I'd go to a film, concert, gig even a meal alone if I had to, but I wouldn't just go to sit in a pub. Probably because I see them as a functional building in which to meet my friends rather than a destination that offers anything itself. Also men are a nuisance and id rather watch saturday telly than listen to 'you been stood up?' 'you can sit with us darlin' on repeat.

I go out to the movies or theatre alone. Lunch etc. Do you mean you are going to the pub? I could do that during the day but not sure of an evening, especially a Friday or Saturday night.

I take myself out places alone all the time. Had dinner and drinks by myself last night then met up with a friend and my DH for more drinks later.

I went to a gig last weekend by myself too and had a mini solo pub crawl before and after it as well. It was honestly one of the best days of my life.

Good for you.
Just put your phone, maybe notepad, paper, pen whatever on the table to make it look as if you're busy. Otherwise you'll be swamped by men thinking it odd that you're alone and doing their best to make sure you aren't!
