I will probably make some mackerel pate and have it on a baguette with salad and walnuts. Then a coffee and some chocolate

Classic Mumsnet dessert: three fucking strawberries.

Classic Mumsnet, judging other people's choices. 😴

MadisonAvenue · 16/07/2024 12:10

Mushroom omelette and a bag of Quavers.

I think it's not porridge because the oats aren't cooked, just soaked so it isn't like eating dust. I like overnight oats but I make them with Greek yoghurt 😊

It's not dust because the oats absorb the liquid you put them in. That's why they are left overnight.

ChickpeaPie · 16/07/2024 12:10

I’m thinking about having a baked sweet potato with grated cheese and spring onions on top and a few leaves and tomatoes on the side

mickandrorty · 16/07/2024 12:12

a massive curry

JonnyTheDogFacedBoy · 16/07/2024 12:18

Having what I eat most days and am yet to get bored of:

Gluten free sweet potato wrap, with mashed avocado, hot sauce, and griddled halloumi.

Er, yes - that's what I said. The oats are soaked instead of being cooked, because otherwise it would be like eating dust (ie. dry porridge oats).

Burrata with tomatoes, olives and avocado with Caesar salad dressing.
Followed by a slice of fruit cake and a cup of tea.

RichardOsmansfondueset · 16/07/2024 12:20

Wholemeal bread roll with lettuce, tomato, mayo and corned beef served with Pom Bear crisps and a mug of tea. I can't seem to eat a sandwich without crisps. It just doesn't taste right!

TerfTalking · 16/07/2024 12:20

1 slice wholemeal toast with a single Laughing Cow Extra Light triangle and a NZ Golden Kiwi fruit.

I'm on Mounjaro and I had to force that "feast" down.

Oh come on! I had a punnet the other day where the strawberries were so big, there was only about 6 in there. Each strawberry was about the equivalent of 3 small strawberries. I'm hardly going to eat the whole punnet and not leave some for anyone else because I couldn't cope with having only 3 strawberries!

Tarkan · 16/07/2024 12:24

I have leftover fried chicken strips and a bit of curry sauce from a sort-of katsu curry I made for dinner last night so might just heat that up for myself today.

Oops sorry I read your post wrong!

@weareallqueens I think I love you. 😂 Mild curry???

Chicken. With brown bread and lots of butter.

LittleMissDopey · 16/07/2024 12:28

Asda chicken soup, ( just changed over from very expensive Heinz… £1.70 for soup??😱 ) tiger bread baguette and a Bakewell tart. Cup of tea.

skamama · 16/07/2024 12:28

This thread has inspired me to make some soup rather than graze on crap all day! Thanks

Genuinely curious about the overnight oats as some of the girls in the office here bring them in. Is it not just porridge??? Why are they made the night before? I have porridge in the morning but what am I missing out on?! 😂

Haha fair enough question! I only discovered them a few months ago after watching a few too many YouTube videos where everyone seems to start their day with them 😂
I used to think they were just porridge too but I find the addition of the yoghurt (and chia seeds too if I have them) really changes the overall consistency to make it less porridge like. Also because you have cold the oats seem to retain their shape more so it’s a lot less mushy. I definitely think of it as more of a summer breakfast/lunch because it’s cold. I like that you can add lots of different things like fruit, yoghurts, cocoa, honey, vanilla essence etc. to change it up a bit. I just pop it all in a Tupperware and leave it in the fridge overnight and by the next day it’s good to eat and genuinely filling!

Bloody love a nice bit of corned beef!
Sandwich of chopped red onion, sliced tomatoes and corned beef… divine!

RedHelenB · 16/07/2024 12:31

Smoked salmon and cheese bagel

PaleSunshineOfHope · 16/07/2024 12:32

Cold salmon and couscous left over from last night's dinner.

Starlight1979 · 16/07/2024 12:32

Is everyone on a diet apart from me?!?!

I've just been to the bakery and got jacket potato with butter, beans and cheese, a cake and a Coke Zero.

Reading all these "toasted flatbread with cucumber and lettuce" and "one slice of wholemeal toast with a single cheese triangle" and "hummus with carrot and apple slices" is making me feel like a massive fat heifer 😂

NoSnowdrop · 16/07/2024 12:33

Leftover Chinese from last night (tofu/rice).

Lentil, beetroot and feta salad with toasted pita for me today!
