Hey guys . I have two daughters 13 and 10.They demolish my shopping within a couple of days . I make the three standard meals a day ,breakfast is cereal and toast . Lunch the standard toastie , sandwich or soap .Dinners are the normal array that u would expect . Snacks r fruit chocolates and crisps . I also buy many different variety’s of breads . I’m exasperated as everything is eaten after two days . My Children do lots of sport but my God it’s so bloody expensive

I thought this was going to be the monster munch super analysis thread. I was getting all ready for it as I clicked.
I'm pickled onion's bitch but they're like hard cardboard now. Nothing like they used to be. Doesn't stop me putting them in my mouth.

My teen is crisp mad. I can't ruin it for her and chop up carrots, can I?

Anyone remember the cheesy monster munch? I miss them so much!

FuzzyStripes · 16/07/2024 09:36

Roast Beef Monster Munch are the way forward.

Surely nobody enjoys eating soap for lunch!

Stop buying the snacks then. My DC were the same so I ended up buying Carrots, cucumbers and peppers, chopping them all up and putting them in tubs in the fridge. They eat the crisps because they're an easy grab, you just need to replace that with another easy grab!

And no I don't make a whole chicken last 3 weeks or eat massive salads 😂

Yup - get rid of the crisp type snacks and stick with fruit and alternatives… that’s slows them way down and is cheaper. Water melon is a good one for after school, then breakfast.
My DC also do loads of sports and are always hungry.

Make the breakfast and lunch more filling. Cereal doesn't fill a teenager for 2 minutes. Neither does soup. Or most snacks.
Eggs, veg, cheeses, protein and fibrous foods instead of empty carby and liquid foods.

Ponoka7 · 16/07/2024 09:48

Are they getting enough filling protein? Would they swap for hummus and breadsticks, or peanut butter/cheese on toast? It's very carb and sugar loaded. Eggs on the toast, or egg on toast for supper would be better, poached eggs, guacamole and a finely chopped salad is lovely. Pad out your meals with pulses, beans and lentils, all have proteins.

Well if your gonna feed em soap for lunch poor kids will eat all the junk food they can get 🤣🤪😉.
I too came here for the monster much debate obviously flaming hot are the best!! I'll eat beef if the hot ones have been snaffled by everyone else.
Does anyone remember the weird flavours that came out in the 90s something like spaghetti and egg flavour I hope someone does so i know i didn't dream it 🤣.

What I really miss are the prawn cocktail Forever Friends teddy shaped crisps. They were only available for a couple of years at the end of the 1990s and early 2000s but I still remember them to this day.

Legendofthelostkeys · 16/07/2024 10:12

Beef are easily the best flavour but I wish they'd bring back the Vanilla Ice Cream flavour which were in the shops all too briefly.

LostTheMarble · 16/07/2024 10:17

Yabu.

Pickled onion is vile. Flaming Hot all the way.

CuriousGeorge80 · 16/07/2024 10:21

Thanks for all your ideas . I’m going to try eliminating the crisps and other unhealthy snacks and try some of the healthier options mentioned in the messages . There will be a huge protest . However better for them and better for my food bill hopefully . Thanks everyone for your ideas
