To find the Ambani wedding distasteful

I know everyone can do what they like , it's their money . But such an extravagant event in a place where a large proportion of the population live in slum conditions is rather unsettling.? Plus the bride is stunning but the groom unfortunately does not come across as an individual with a lot

of intelligence . Before I get flamed , he and his family are encouraging the public to view them and I guess are expecting admiration.

I’m surprised you could see him 👋👋

I bet they end up with two toasters!

And a fondue set that collects dust forever

AutismHelp1980 · 14/07/2024 22:42

i just find this mega wealth distasteful. This wedding was beyond tacky, the groom has serious health problems or mental health or both!

It was all just show and in reality who actually thinks it’s a good thing? Shocked at Cherie Blair as a Human Rights lawyer coming to the wedding.

HollyFern1110 · 14/07/2024 22:49

None of it will make the marriage any happier, stronger or successful.

I can’t get my head around the concept of a wedding celebration that lasts from March to July. Wouldn’t you get really bored?

JamSandle · 14/07/2024 22:49

Unfair world. Makes me sick.

AlwaysGinPlease · 14/07/2024 22:51

StaunchMomma · 14/07/2024 22:31

100% agree.

The level of child poverty and homelessness in India is huge.

Being so indulgent and wasteful in the face of that is both shocking and depressing.

Agreed. A disgusting occasion with just the sort of dickheads attending you'd expect to see.

Pieceofpurplesky · 14/07/2024 21:13

They paid guests to be there according to twitter so Boris Johnson was paid to turn up like a scruffy twat

😂🤣😅

schnubbins · 14/07/2024 21:16

India must have the most unequal society worldwide . Unbelievable that there can be so much decadence and such absolute poverty side by side and that none of those people in attendance appears to have a conscience .Shame on them all.

You've just essentially described the UK....
In my town there are many, many homes £8mil+ with their own Helipad.
There are also many, many people so poor that they're quite literally living in tents. Some who have houses, can’t afford electricity! I was one of them for 2 years (using a propane camping stove for meals) and counting pennies for a pint of milk.

(Yet everyone says our town is posh! Ha...)

MrsSkylerWhite · 14/07/2024 22:58

It’s disgusting. Lone 3 year olds lay down on cardboard to sleep on the streets where this sickening display is happening. How can they live with themselves? Revolting.
Anyone associated with this ought to be deeply, deeply ashamed of themselves.

StripedPiggy · 14/07/2024 23:00

CelesteCunningham · 14/07/2024 21:21

I mean. Rich and powerful people having an extravagant wedding in an unequal society isn't a new thing, is it?

Quite.

Let’s put our own house in order and get rid of repulsively crass displays of wealth & privilege in this country before hypocritically criticising others. At least the Ambani family earned their money themselves….

Lentilweaver · 14/07/2024 23:02

They have earned it in extremely dubious ways. Crony capitalism at its worst. Corruption. Decimation of the environment. And many other things...

blueshoes · 14/07/2024 23:04

Tony and Cherie Blair looked a bit weird, like aliens.

mrsmiawallace3 · 14/07/2024 23:04

Most of which he appears to have scoffed himself.

Turmerictolly · 14/07/2024 23:05

I have been thinking this too. Such an ostentatious display of wealth in a country which has such a huge divide between rich and poor. I find it quite obscene. I hope they have philanthropic interests.

DodoTired · 14/07/2024 23:07

Oh come on. It’s happening in totally different country, how is that your business??

have you protested royal weddings, coronation etc?
Do you shop on high street (which pays peanuts to sweatshop workers in countries like that)

MrsSkylerWhite · 14/07/2024 23:08

HTAF do Blair and his wife justify this to themselves?
Sickening.

blueshoes · 14/07/2024 23:18

I cannot think of anything worse for the guests than to attend a wedding that lasts from March to July. One day is bad enough.

All that money but the venues looked tacky.

Femme2804 · 14/07/2024 23:19

Cmon people. Its culture. Even normal indian wedding its usually 7 days. The minimum are 3 days. That for normal culture wedding. They are wealthy family of course they will be extravagant. You talk Like royal wedding here not extravagant.

the beide and groom both from billionaire family and been dating since university. The groom used to be thin but he is sick with something i dont know what and the meds makes him gained weight Significantly but the bride still with him despite so many people think she is gold digger but she isn’t. She is from billionaire family aswell.

so i dont think its tacky. Its extravagant because indian wedding are also like that. Ita their culture to have such extravagant wedding.

DodoTired · 14/07/2024 23:20

This thread is just people displaying typical Western European cultural superiority complex 🙄

oh how tacky! We aren’t that tacky, we are progressive, we are so so culturally advanced, our royal weddings are much cheaper ( 🤣) etc etc

to a person living in an Indian slum even UK middle class lifestyle with holiday in Turkish all inclusive is unimaginable level of wealth.

Not at all. Many people have made exactly the same comparison with the Royal weddings. Tacky doesn’t have cultural or geographic limitations.

Peoneve · 14/07/2024 23:27

I was at the Taj once when they were hosting an amazing wedding
The flowers and scent were so beautiful that as I wandered the hotel at 4 am with jet lag the staff invited me in to see
It lasted 3 days. We were invited in to part of it- the opulence was unbelievable

No it isn’t. I began my career working for an investment company that was heavily Indian based. I very quickly realised that class was all important. It is, frankly, despicable. People look down on others because of the caste they were born into. It’s reprehensible.

ll09sm · 14/07/2024 23:31

Unfortunately money can’t buy class.

And they paid celebrities to attend. Giving trashy a whole new meaning.

Gladtobeout · 14/07/2024 23:34

The amount of casual racism in this thread, disguised as faux concern is what's really disgusting and tacky.

Onebaldandonehairy · 14/07/2024 23:35

Courtney looked like she was having a blast, Kim looked really uneasy and a bit vulnerable. It felt a bit of an uncomfortable watch. Even if you don't consider the massive amounts of money being pissed up the wall.
