I honestly wouldn't put it past the Rep' (Twitter / X also suggesting this was orchestrated). Shooters don't miss. If they do miss, do they skim an ear?

Extremely lucky all the same.

BadLad · 14/07/2024 01:53

Too bad Alec Baldwin was busy in court.

There is a civilian dead. This should be a sobering moment for people, not a time to claim conspiracy and gloat.

There is no place in democracy for violence, regardless on your feelings for the candidate.

Agree. That still doesn't mean we have to feel bad about Trump getting shot.
It's awful about the civilian and the shooter is a scumbag. However, Trump is also a scumbag. I'd say it's okay to be of two minds about it.

I am disgusted at some people on this thread. People are dead but hey, let’s just turn it into a joke. How rotten your brains must be.

Edited

It seems to be the usual in these lefty MN threads. Comments that are stupid and vile.

It's just how people cope with this kind of madness sometimes. The feeling is that the world has gone to shit, so let's laugh while we still can. You could stand to lighten up a bit.

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 14/07/2024 01:59

I abhor Donald Trump and everything he stands for, but the people who are wishing that the shooter had been a better aim, or implying that he somehow deserved it, need to take a long hard look at themselves.

The success of our political system depends entirely on the quality of the candidates that put themselves forward for election. If we allow our political culture to be poisoned by violence and intimidation, many high calibre individuals will simply choose not to put themselves at risk. And we will all be much poorer for the lack of choice.

There will always be people whose views we find abhorrent. Our job is to argue against them and defeat them at the ballot box. I don't think anyone should be condoning violence, even jokingly. As a society, we get the politicians that we deserve, and incidents like this drag all of us down.

BadLad · 14/07/2024 02:00

He’ll turn it to his advantage, like in Star Wars Revenge of the Sith

Donald trump!!
Nail123 · 14/07/2024 02:07

There was someone being interviewed that he told the security there was a gunman on the roof and they did nothing.

Very sad to hear an innocent person has been killed and others injured.

Is Keir Starmer aware or is he asleep?

What do you want him to do, stage a 2am press conference to say “thoughts and prayers”?

hippopotty · 14/07/2024 02:09

Leftwing gun toter?

Well, exactly.

DanielGault · 14/07/2024 02:12

I wonder what's going to be next.

Trump is a very dangerous man.

It really is. It just seems to be spinning out of control as a society before our eyes. I know we only see the low lights but really, this is crazy stuff.

XChrome · 14/07/2024 02:17

MNers who are in a snit about the jokes; remember that jokes don't kill people. Guns kill people. That should be the takeaway, but somehow it never is in America. No matter how many shootings there are, nothing is done.

The same in UK where they have rampant knife crime but they aren't banning knives....

You need knives to make dinner. Not so much guns.

Biden was short and sweet there.

Probably for the best.

hippopotty · 14/07/2024 02:22

Who were the other victims, were they shot by the shooter or accidentally in a crossfire?

But knives are killing children on the streets of the UK? You care more about cutting food than children. Shame on you. 😂

Also haven't a few MP's in UK been stabbed to death?
