To love Count Binface

I take democracy quite seriously - or I thought I did. I disapprove strongly of spoilt ballot papers. I’ve never liked any joke candidates before but somehow Count Binface is just so intelligent and has such childlike enthusiasm, I just can’t help it.

YABU - He’s one of the good guys
YANBU - He’s a pain/bad for democracy

I think you have your poll the wrong way round

thistimelastweek · 13/07/2024 20:56

I want to live in a country where a Count Binface can stand for parliament.

Needhelp101 · 13/07/2024 20:59

There was a very, very moving article in the Times (sorry, behind a paywall) from him, writing about the death of his brother. Made me cry. He's very articulate and intelligent.

C0untBinFace · 13/07/2024 21:02

yabu obs 😂

Yes I was just about to mention this. Such a memorable piece of writing.

I like a lot of his policy ideas. Favourite is replacing London's Night 'Czar' with a 'mayor'.

FailBetter · 13/07/2024 22:18

Beautifully written piece. Thank you for posting.

That’s embarrassing.

Oh well! Forget the poll!
Sorry!

I was looking forward to him building one affordable home if he won.

BlueAnd · 13/07/2024 22:38

He’s a good guy, based on that article. So thoughtful and intelligent.

I liked a fair few of his policies, particularly the one requiring water company bosses to swim in their own water.

eurochick · 13/07/2024 22:39

I liked the Monster Raving Looney manifesto. It included replacing border force agents with GP receptionists to reduce immigration. I think they are on to something there.

WhatWouldJeevesDo · 14/07/2024 20:39

Thanks for that @Needhelp101 - very touching.

You're welcome 🙂

I voted for him for London mayor as I didn't want to vote for any of the main candidates and cheap croissants seemed a reasonable pledge.

AceofPentacles · 14/07/2024 21:25

I also voted for him for London mayor

MrsDoylesLastTeabag · 14/07/2024 21:40

I think he’s fab. Very witty on X-itter too. I find it reassuring that, despite all the difficulties we have faced as a country in recent years, we still have a sense of humour. It’s perhaps my favourite thing about being British/ one of the few things I’m proud of. Count Binface epitomises this.

GreenClock · 14/07/2024 21:47

If by some fluke he were elected I am sure he’d step up to the plate and fight for his constituents.

I think you’re right. The trouble is I don’t think the mayor has the authority to price fix croissants, and one MP wouldn’t be able to build a space bridge in North Allerton High Street, would he? Is a space bridge a real thing?
I sort of worry he’s just too good to be a joke candidate.
Maybe one day he’ll do it seriously. He’s building a lot of experience.

I think it would be absolutely brilliant if he did stand as a 'serious' candidate, as an MP or as London mayor.

After all, wasn't Zelensky once a comedian?

XDownwiththissortofthingX · 17/07/2024 23:02

I'd vote for him purely because of his manifesto pledge to Nationalise Adele.

GingersOwner26 · 18/07/2024 01:15

I like him.

Yes. He could be our Zelensky. I hope he does it seriously one day and before we get invaded.

I like Piers Morgan to be zero emissions by 2030 - assuming it’s done legally.
