I’ll go first..

Potty shot. 🤢
Makes me squirm. Nobody needs to be sharing their scan photos for strangers on the internet to (probably wrongly) guess their baby’s gender. The whole thing is ridiculous

'Batshit' - have never heard anyone use it in real life.

'I wear what I like! I don't care what others think!' In S&B... So helpful when someone would like a change or to look a certain way for an event...🙄

Lol, I'm Australian. Batshit is very commonly heard in real life.

ScruffMuffin · 11/07/2024 21:14

Haven't read the full thread, but I HATE "you do you". So passive-aggressive and mean spirited.

Glamorous24 · 11/07/2024 21:15

Absolutely agree on “picky bits” and “picky tea” - I’d add to this list “chippy tea”

all make me want to turn inside out. thankfully I’ve never known anyone in real life use these.

also can’t bear parent used as a verb (always sounds overwhelmingly smug and self important, when used IRL and on here)

add to that “momma bear”

NeomDiffuser · 11/07/2024 21:18

"Sat here with tears rolling down my face"

"Grinds my gears"

Cheesandcrackers · 11/07/2024 21:19

Any reflexive mention of "therapy" or "counselling". Most people are perfectly aware of an issue and don't need a handhold.

"literally just spat my tea out".....did you fuck!
See also "sitting here with tears rolling down my cheeks"..

MarmitePizza · 11/07/2024 17:43

I hate loads of these too, but one thing I really hate, which is so common here is people saying “It doesn’t sit right with me.”

It annoys me too. It’s one of those sayings that was infrequently used in real conversation, then someone used on here & it’s become rife. It happened at one time with per se & its variants and has spread to eggshell walking & pussyfooting.
I also don’t like chopping most of a word off & adding an O at the end. Inspo; convo; invo etc.

ThereIsAMassivePiegeonOnMyFence · 11/07/2024 21:35

When someone is terrified and shaking after a very minor incident

Maverick101 · 11/07/2024 21:38

"that's really attention seeking" -- with the interference that it's on a par with torturing kittens. Especially when it's said to some poor woman, who's everyone's drudge, lamenting that absolutely nobody has even made a passing comment about a major life achievement like finishing a PhD.

Maverick101 · 11/07/2024 21:44

For everyone that says they never hear certain phrases in real life -- there are over 1.4 billion English speakers in the world and Mumsnet has a pretty broad reach.

The only phrase mentioned so far that I've genuinely never encountered elsewhere is sanpro. And it makes my teeth itch 😉😁

sammylady37 · 11/07/2024 21:48

Boils my piss
I lost my shit
I was today years old when…
‘gift’ used as a verb

WeightofExpectation · 11/07/2024 21:51

Give your head a wobble.

Didn't want to read and run.

LTB

NC

Massive salad

MartyFunkhouser · 11/07/2024 21:55

‘LO’ which manages to be even more nauseating than all the ‘D’ this, that and the other bollocks.

WeightofExpectation · 11/07/2024 21:56

Love language (although it’s mercifully rare)

AuschwitzHistorian · 11/07/2024 21:57

Just saw another one “x, y z (insert profession) here” Like anyone cares, just reply for goodness sake.

People “fuming” or even better “fumming”
Draws. It’s drawers!

Edited to add “then the tears came”
People that don’t open their doors to anyone, that’s just odd.

BakewellTart66 · 11/07/2024 19:19

I like « Do fuck off dear. »
Can we keep it?

Give your head a wobble, Bakewell 😉

I’m sure ‘live rurally’ gets used way more on here than IRL. Sounds a bit twee to my ears.

Scorchio84 · 11/07/2024 22:06

MyUmberSeal · 11/07/2024 17:37

This would my choice too. DC, DS, DD, DH, all really naff.

DDog has to be the worst!

AuschwitzHistorian · 11/07/2024 22:06

Thought of another “someone left the gate open to the cunt farm today.” I roll my eyes at that one.

Oh yes! LO makes me cringe every time.

HungryLittleCrocodile · 11/07/2024 22:15

@NeomDiffuser

"Sat here with tears rolling down my face"

'And spitting their tea out all over the keyboard.'

or

'My drink just came out of nose I laughed so hard!'

Both daft! ^

@Scorchio84

'DDog' has to be the worst

Yeah, and 'DCat,' and 'DNiece,' and 'DNephew.' 🙄

And yes, LO for 'little one.' Just stop!

Aliciainwunderland · 11/07/2024 22:21

MissTrip82 · 11/07/2024 22:26
