MN phrases that you would ban

I’ll go first..

Potty shot. 🤢
Makes me squirm. Nobody needs to be sharing their scan photos for strangers on the internet to (probably wrongly) guess their baby’s gender. The whole thing is ridiculous

OP posts:
Wavescrashingonthebeach · 11/07/2024 17:22

These aren't MN specific but teeth itching, piss boiling, keeping eyes peeled, and any phrase comparing pregnancy stages to "cooking" phrases literally make my eyes water. I have a genuine visceral reaction to them.

Get your ducks in a row irritates me slightly just because it's so over used

EarlHickey · 11/07/2024 17:22

"Think" As in "I went to a large supermarket yesterday, think Sainsburys"
Just say you went to fucking Sainsburys, you absolute dullard!

pigsDOfly · 11/07/2024 17:24

Not a phrase, I'm afraid, but something I would like to ban here is the quoting of the entire OP by posters.

If you're on the thread and you make a comment addressed to the OP, then I think we're all intelligent enough to realise that you're commenting on the OP.

ForgottenPasswordNewAccount · 11/07/2024 17:25

Hubby 😤

Youcantellalotofthingsabouttheflowers · 11/07/2024 17:25

Can I have a handhold ….makes me sick.
I was shaking and crying.. also makes me sick.

Greenlittecat · 11/07/2024 17:26

@HungryLittleCrocodile omg yes!! I hate "reader" with a passion.

ChopSue · 11/07/2024 17:28

ChedderGorgeous · 11/07/2024 17:21

Husband has a hobby which I won't reveal as outing.

Just ”hobby” for me

DeadlyKnightshade · 11/07/2024 17:29

MissMoneyFairy · 11/07/2024 17:07

Hubby
Let's call her Jane

Or Hubbie

Disagree

Devilsmommy · 11/07/2024 17:29

How bloody "triggering" absolutely everything ever is 😤

stopringingme · 11/07/2024 17:29

Didn't want to read and run.

Malahide · 11/07/2024 17:31

Also - ‘sanpro’. Another one that makes me genuinely squirm! Never heard anyone say it in real life (thankfully)

OP posts:
AuschwitzHistorian · 11/07/2024 17:31

mocking and deriding someone who doesn't eat large amounts of food by snidely calling them 'teeny tiny' fucks me off! I once said that DH and I share a large battered fish and a standard bag of chips, and have a large pot of curry sauce with it, (from the chip shop,) and a slice of bread and butter each. Several posters said 'LOL, teeny tiny! Do you have a massive salad for lunch?!' Someone said I was weird, as no-one does that unless they're 'very elderly

The comments when you’re not a huge eater are awful especially the ‘teeny tiny’ and MN salad brigade.

I thought of another one, ‘did you mean to be so rude”. I’ve responded to that a few times, yes, I actually did.

forcliffssake · 11/07/2024 17:31

I absolutely loathe:

How old are you, 12?

wtfissummer · 11/07/2024 17:32

MissMoneyFairy · 11/07/2024 17:07

Hubby
Let's call her Jane

Thankfully "hubby" has yet to take proper hold on Mumsnet

It's so awful

MissMoneyFairy · 11/07/2024 17:33

PMSL
First time poster, long time lurker

MartyFunkhouser · 11/07/2024 17:34

Starting posts with ‘So…’

’D’ anything. It’s archaic, twee and totally unnecessary.

Any post that starts ‘Lovely ladies’ or ‘Hello mummies’ or the like. Nauseating.

And I agree with the ‘let’s call her Zoe…’. Always followed a post that demonstrates it was unnecessary to call her anything at all.

SnowyPetals · 11/07/2024 17:34

Use your words

What kind of patronising arse says that to an adult in real life?

Crinklycrisp · 11/07/2024 17:35

darked on and that bloody stupid spider willy rubbish that's posted on washing threads

notatinydancer · 11/07/2024 17:36

No ?
You would do that though no ?

wtfissummer · 11/07/2024 17:37

I couldn't get worked up about .....whatever the post is about

So what, the OP cares enough to post and you clearly are worked up enough to share how cool and unbothered you are

GeneralMusings · 11/07/2024 17:37

One I currently hate, and it isn't just in mumsnet, is when people finish with,

"just a thought"...

MyUmberSeal · 11/07/2024 17:37

Greenlittecat · 11/07/2024 17:08

I hate DH/DD/DDog just say the word! It takes maybe 4 seconds to write "my husband"

This would my choice too. DC, DS, DD, DH, all really naff.

SnowyPetals · 11/07/2024 17:39

If this is all you have to worry about...

As if people are incapable of being concerned about more than one thing, and at different levels.

Halfheadhighlights · 11/07/2024 17:40

EarlHickey · 11/07/2024 17:05

"Not your circus, not your monkeys" is incredibly annoying.

Absolutely agree. So much easier to say none of my business
