just as the title says really. I need to buy a house in this village. I don’t know which one. None are stand outs. All are quite nice.

which would you choose and why? Which is the best buy?

house 1

house 2

house 3

house 4

I think it would be easy to give house 1 some mid-century character, which is totally my taste but may not be everyones!

FlannelandPuce · 10/07/2024 21:22

I really like 1 it just seems more cosy than the others and has more flexible living space. They are all quite nice, so I think it comes down to what you value from a home, whether living space, extra bathroom or garden. As you can see from this thread different people have different views so it just depends on your priorities and who is going to be living with you

Els1e · 10/07/2024 21:24

For me it would be 1 or 2 but don’t know the area so don’t think I can help

TooMuchRedMaybe · 10/07/2024 21:26

House 2. It has a teeny bit of charm that none of the others have. It has a floor plan that makes sense. Garden is mature and not overlooked. Not a leasehold.

CyclesPerfecta · 10/07/2024 21:27

4 looks nice, but is a leasehold, so that would be a no from me.

AyrshireTryer · 10/07/2024 21:28

I like 4, but would question the leasehold.
The estate agent clearly has an issue with the word - it's

gmgnts · 10/07/2024 21:29

House 2 because of the conservatory and the nicest garden

ThatsAFineLookingHighHorse · 10/07/2024 21:31

I would discount House 1 immediately due to 1 bathroom.

House 2 or 4 would be where I focused due to square footage and room sizes. House 2 has the loveliest garden and opens up into the garden from the conservatory, but House 4 has the length of the kitchen/diner that opens up to it as well. I'd probably be looking at parking situation, quietness of street (so I can have my cats), and how overlooked I am to decide between them.

godmum56 · 10/07/2024 21:31

house two. looks the least overlooked

Busybusybusy73 · 10/07/2024 21:38

House 2 stood out for me. The garden would sell it. None are overly exciting, but that has a lovely mature large garden and a conservatory.

4 being leasehold would be a big no for me.

XChrome · 10/07/2024 21:41

4 is by far the most attractive IMO. It has lots of charm. The others are generic and boring.

knightsinwhitesatin · 10/07/2024 21:42

I like number 2. I’d avoid leasehold, I like that the garden seems less overlooked, and an extra upstairs bathroom. I’d happily live in it!

AuntieObnoxious · 10/07/2024 22:28

I would chose 1. Ok it doesn’t have the 2nd bathroom upstairs but there’s the opportunity to expand over the garage if needed. The other houses appear to be very overlooked.

HollyFern1110 · 10/07/2024 22:35

1 gives me positive vibes. I’m not so fussed on any of the others but, as you say, they’re all nice enough houses.

I’ve lived in Staffordshire all my life & am only just learning that at least a part of Stoke is in Cheshire!

IgnoranceNotOk · 10/07/2024 22:44

Yeah I see what you mean.
I like 2 the least.
Maybe 4 but that might just be because I like the look of the outside of the house the most but the living room was an awkward shape.

Do you need 4 beds? Or could you look for 3 good sized bedrooms?

As they’re all a bit blah, I’d go for the one in the best area.

EKnaring · 10/07/2024 22:51

1 or 4 for me

bozzabollix · 10/07/2024 22:55

Number 1, it looks bigger and on a better plot with more space around it.

AlanBrendaCelia · 10/07/2024 23:00

I think they are all lovely, I’d be happy to live in any one of them if it weren’t for the fact that it would take an awful long time to get to work!

With all of them you get a lot of house for your money. all have similar sized gardens, all have garages and off-street parking.

All have nice kitchens but I prefer a kitchen separate from dining room (Not that I have a dining room myself) and a couple of these are kitchen diners.

i prefer no 2 as it’s got 3 reception rooms inc a conservatory. 3 and 4 only have one reception room. 4 has a huge master bedroom but the downside of that is a small 4th bedroom.

in order of preference, it’s 2,1,4,3.

UserNumber56 · 10/07/2024 23:01

For me, it's a toss up between numbers 1 and 2. It depends on what your priorities are regarding living space, whether you want more space downstairs or upstairs, whether an extra bathroom is important or not etc.
But 1 and 2 are the nicest. The others are too hemmed in and are further away from the railway station.

AlexandraPeppernose · 10/07/2024 23:04

4

Anonymouseposter · 10/07/2024 23:05

I prefer 2. Not as closely overlooked and cramped outside. Nice garden. Like the layout inside.

Floralnomad · 10/07/2024 23:05

I would say number 4 but the leasehold thing puts me off , so if I could buy the freehold I’d go for that . Otherwise number 1 .

TeenLifeMum · 10/07/2024 23:07

I like number 2 because of the garden.

I'm not naturally drawn to newbuild style but live in one that I love. We walked in and instantly the flow worked and I could see us having Christmas here. As much as other posters are saying they’re bland, I’ve lived in quirky/characterful cottage and the damp and other issues mean I appreciate the ease a newer home brings.

Purplebunnie · 10/07/2024 23:07

No 1 felt less hemmed in and has option to build over garage and utility room
