War in Ukraine

In today's news Russia has bombed a children's hospital in Kiev. Where is the uproar at a loss of life of 40 and increasing as I write?
I am wondering why Stop The War coalition group never demonstrates against Russia's brutal invasion of Ukraine on a regular basis and they do on Israel/Gaza.
There is no subject heading on MN to discuss the ongoing war, unlike Conflict in the Middle East? Why is that? Are Ukrainian lives lesser than others?

Notice how Russia are headline news straight away but so much that Israel has done goes unreported? The media wants you to hate Russia and back Israel. You could march in support of Ukraine, there's absolutely nothing stopping you is there?

Everything that Israel does as far as Gaza is concerned is reported everywhere, not least on Mumsnet
This particular strike by Russia is the first one reported in detail for ages. Because it was deliberately on a children's hospital!

My feelings towards russia are mine. I don't need the "media" to tell me what to think

I don't understand why Ukraine has invaded the Kursk region in Russia.
Two wrongs don't make a right.

And why poke the bear ?

Because they hope it will put pressure on Putin to end the invasion. I don't think it will but Ukraine are in a difficult position and want any leverage they can get.

I’m sorry about the children’s hospital, but what a fucking cheek of a thread. Other than maybe Farage, this country has 100% backed Ukraine, despite us having no cultural ties. The war is in the press daily, Putin is criticised daily with sanctions on his cronies.

We’ve taken in thousands of Ukrainian’s, have given Ukraine billions when we ourselves are in a financial hole, and you’re jealous because people are marching in support of Gazan’s?

There is no ‘Homes for Gaza’ scheme, no billions for arms etc. At least 40,000 civilians dead. Maybe Ukraine and Gaza should do a swap in regard to the UK’s affections. Would you like that? Thought not.

And why can’t you go and march? Is anyone stopping you?

What a spiteful thread,

Poke the bear? You mean appease a dictator?

But demonstrations will reach Putin's ears.
I don't agree that our demonstrations over one war where we have limited ability to change things prevents us from demonstrating against another, especially when that war is on Europe's borders.

Putin doesn’t care about demonstrations. Zero shits given what we all think.

Russia/Ukraine is a clear aggressor/defender situation. The UK is supporting Ukraine. Protests will not change anything.

Israel/Gaza is much more complex. The “goodies” and “baddies” are interwoven and the people suffering are overwhelmingly civilians.

The protests are aiming to demonstrate to the government to encourage supporting the Gazan people (not Hamas which is very different) and getting any remaining surviving hostages released (not supporting Israel without question).

But we expect Israel to throw down its arms while the western world appears to be appeasing Russian aggression. Have we learned nothing from history?

No one is appeasing Russia. That is insane!

I absolutely agree with you on this but Mumsnet is full of hypocrites - no capacity to see the full picture
