What was the food?

McSpoot · 07/07/2024 03:10

Why does someone need to "be worse"? You both messed up but seems that there isn't lasting damage.

Mothership4two · 07/07/2024 03:12

Does it matter?

Neither of you deliberately made DD ill

MrsTerryPratchett · 07/07/2024 03:15

'They'? Male poster blaming his wife. 2 to 1.

AquaFurball · 07/07/2024 03:16

Grown adult doesn't know food can spoil in the heat. 100% on you.

PoopingAllTheWay · 07/07/2024 03:16

Both of you

Justleaveitblankthen · 07/07/2024 08:58

What was the food OP? 🤔

FunIsland · 07/07/2024 09:00

Why does this even matter?

GiggleMugsMandy · 07/07/2024 09:00

How do you not know chilled food items need to stay chilled? Confused

Iseeyoupekingduck · 07/07/2024 09:01

Why does it matter? Is this a point scoring thing? At the end of the day it happened just learn from it.

Unbelievable isn't it? Lol

combinationpadlock · 07/07/2024 09:02

what was the food?

soupfiend · 07/07/2024 09:03

Are you sure she got ill from that?

An hour? sounds unlikely

In any case, I see it both the same, the impact is the same (if indeed it was the impact as I doubt this was what made her ill)

Im sick of hearing a lack of acknowledgement from my OH about consequences of things he does because 'I didnt know' or 'I didnt mean it', or 'it was an accident'

Yes, but the impact is the same, acknowledge it (this isnt about you OP!)

I doubt food would go off that quickly.

Wolfpa · 07/07/2024 09:07

Why are you trying to point score here? You are both in the wrong, as long as you learn for the future I can’t see why you need to place blame on anyone.

TheKeatingFive · 07/07/2024 09:08

What was the food? An hour doesn't seem long enough go off that badly

ByCupidStunt · 07/07/2024 09:09

Food doesn't spoil within an hour. Something else must have made her ill.

This!

Food will not spoil in an hour - that's ridiculous!

They clearly had picked up a sick bug.

Pippa12 · 07/07/2024 09:14

She likely has a stomach bug. Food can last longer than one hour out of the fridge otherwise every party that served ‘buffet food’ would have Ill guests?

However, I’m not sure how your daughter’s illness has become a battle of whose ‘fault’ it is. What a strange way to parent!

saveforthat · 07/07/2024 09:14

Food usually lasts about 4 hours out of the fridge, no problem so I doubt it was the food. Also, if it had gone off, it would be unpalatable. How old is DD and what was the food?

CrunchyCarrot · 07/07/2024 09:21

Depends what the food was, how long had it been in the fridge prior to consuming. You can get food poisioning symptoms very quickly after eating contaminated food, it depends on the bacteria. If the food had already been in the fridge a couple of days, there would be enough bacteria so that when out for an hour in warmth the bacteria would have plenty of time to divide into numbers that can cause symptoms. That's 3 division cycles as bacteria divide every 20 mins!

Ilovelurchers · 07/07/2024 09:52

The reason you didn't know food could spoil this quickly is that it can't.

Unless it was prawns or something maybe?

I think you and your partner need to stop blaming each other and just sort out better lunch routines in the future if that will make you both feel better?

God to hear your daughter is recovering.

CelesteCunningham · 07/07/2024 09:54

An hour seems very quick, what was it?

I don't see any need to be slinging blame, these things happen. Hope your DD is ok, food poisoning can be horrendous.

Iffx · 07/07/2024 09:56

It's not a competition. Learn from it.
